Gotta love the post "If any member of the staff takes time preparing for Indiana State, they need to go." Well OK then.

One guy did...

but most are still talking about winning only 2 games in 3 years and being beaten by Quincy..
I think he wasn't honestly talking about it. The "positive" comments were all an inside joke on how JoePa talks about every team like they're an all-star team. Had he mentioned Ronnie by name, I would have felt maybe he was being sincere.

Knowing what we know now (that we've only got 43 scholarship players on the roster) and they have 85, it shouldn't be close. We hung with Louisville and we hung with Cincinnati for a half before getting tired and getting boatraced in the second half. I'd say we've got even more talent now, so I'm honestly interested to see how this one plays out.

Stop Carl Nicks from driving and dishing off to Larry Bird.

Use a box and one on Bird defensively.

Fast break and transition game with Magic Johnson and Greg Kelser.

Stay out of foul trouble.

There Those are the keys to beating Indiana State.

alright, i gotta give the guy credit for this post. it was pretty clever.

Wondered about that... but his sounded different.... maybe not.
Either way, doesn't matter what the fans think anyway.
I hope that we are underestimated and perform at the level we know that we can. Who knows what will happen then.
Personally, I think it's within 10-14 at half and PSU pulls away in the 2nd half.
I'll be rooting for the victory though.

If anyone on their staff spends one second game planning for us, they should be fired. They should just prepare for Alabama for two weeks. We're nothing but a scrimmage - heck, we're not even that. Just forget about little 'ol ISU. Matter of fact, I hope the entire PSU teams has a big party the night before. They can beat us even with their hangovers...

I don't know if we can win, but can anyone say "trap" game??? Set it up, boys!!!

Wonder what the oddsmakers and journalists would have said about the match up of David vs Golieth? We all know what they would've said and written pre battle, but how exactly would the postmatch story have read?
Good thing David didn't go into it thinking he might stay in it for only one half the battle.........
Stranger things have happened.............
And I'll be glad to say I was there when it did!!!!
Go Blue, Fear the rolling timber!!!!!!!!
Or hey Penn State, don't fear them, then fall like Golieth.

I posted it yesterday in the game thread. We're 37 point dogs.

I will be absolutely shocked if we get beat by 37 points. Could happen, but I bet we keep it under 24. We'll be close at halftime, too...I just hope the crowd of 107,000 doesn't get the players all awe-struck...

As an OF I remember a Florida game too.........................

Wasn't it only a dropped pass in the endzone on the last series of the game that prevented the Sycamores of that era from pulling that monstrous upset on a rainy night in Florida? Memory fades and even changes over time ??????????

It's Penn State. I don't expect their fans to worry much about us. I'm confident we can compete well, but I'm not expecting them to look at this as anything more than an early season scrimmage. Hopefully their players are naive enough to take the same approach. We're going to have to execute at an incredibly high level though to stay competitive in this game.

This is just fans talking here guys, I'm sure that the coaches have planned for us. Have they put in a great deal of time planning for us? Probably not, is it necessary that they do? Probably not.

Look, if I was a Penn State fan I'd probably be saying the same things - would I error on the side of caution? Probably not for a D1 AA program that was once considered the worst football program in the United States. Look it is what it is, we've come a heck of a long way and I recognize that (I wouldn't have gone to this game 3 years ago, I am this year) but as a "fan" this game should be a breeze - you don't concern yourself with this game and if it is close or if you do happen to get upset... Well you go ahead and pack it in and watch the message boards blow up! lol We've seen that before haven't we.

Let me offer some perspective - 3 years ago we shouldn't have lost to Quincy should we? As bad as we were, 90% of the people in the community and on this board didn't think the Sycamores would lose that game - well we did and this board blew up. Granted this is a different team, but the situation is no different.

The Sycamores will show up next Saturday and sometimes all it takes is an opportunity - I'm sure these kids would like to make a name for themselves, this is a great opportunity!

Agree 100%. It's just like how people here are talking about how the Sycamores should hammer Butler and anything less would be a colossal disappointment. Have some perspective, gents.

I have no doubts that ISU can give Penn State a game next weekend, but I absolutely do not fault Penn State fans or writers from considering this game a write-off, because on paper, that's just the way it is.
