Oh that was fun, great waking up to that presser! LMAO!

I got a bunch of mommas boys over here.

Called people out by name - called them flat awful and terrible.

Wow! Kinda a different approach I'd say.

Poor Barry, being forced to deal with mass "affluenza" in Carbondump! He should've scanned the backyard landscape before taking the leap...

My daughter is the weekend morning anchor and reporter at WPSD- I'll ask her if there is any additional "Barry" video. Priceless.

Priceless is right! LMAO Reporter ought to ask him a similar "Playoff" question! Like--Coach Henson --based on your play tonight --do u think u will match up well when u open conference play--Jan 2nd--against the Shockers!!

the interview is great! they are 2-8 with no sign of improvement the program is a dumpster fire and the coach is calling it like it is. i love it! I really don't see what the big deal is, they are college athletes playing like crap and the coach has called them out on it.

Agree 100%---good to see a coach --call it what it is! Most coaches will always take the road of -ifs and buts--etc! and try to be politically correct and positive! Will be interesting to see how they play next week!

Probably not a good move to call out players by name like that though. I'm all for owning it and calling it like you see it - but to call them out by name,
Not good.

Normally the "calling by name" does one of two things:

1) Further divides the team against the coach & teammates;
2) Spills the can of gasoline, and IGNITES a fire under the under-performing asses. Yes, those getting "burned" and not liking the pressure will TRANSFER:)

BTW, how many of us would've liked to have known Hinson's wife in college?

Worked for Pat Knight last year. At this point when they're as bad as they are, I don't blame him for trying something extreme.

Bad is bad. Light all the fires you want, but that's not going to make them stink less. Discipline is one thing, ranting wildly is another. If ranting motivated teens, parents would find their children much more attentive and productive.

That was 2011, his first season at Lamar and with another coach's seniors.

Last year Knight led Lamar to a 3-28 record!!! And wasn't fired!!!!!!

This year's Lamar team is off to a 1-8 start.

Sure doesn't seem to have helped much since. You actually have to be a decent coach to win consistently.

......with that level of success I might recommend that he go to his dads play book and start throwing chairs and kicking players!

I must have conveniently forgot the last two years of my life and am still living in 2011. That makes sense since I have a 2 year old son at home...I'm not sleeping nearly as much as I used to.

My point was that it worked, in a vacuum, the year that he went off on his players. They responded positively. Pat Knight is a shitty coach, so I'm not surprised he hasn't had success since. But, for Hinson specifically it may work this year. How recruits look at him after this for the future, though, may change for the negative.

i can see it both ways. personally i love the fact that he is calling out players by name. unfortunately that will ruffle a lot of feathers, it's just the thinned skin world we live in these days. I don't think that i would do it, but i don't disagree with doing it.

I'm with that - I enjoyed it really. He Henson and his wife were on the Dan Patrick Radio show this morning - pure entertainment. It's on his website, 10 mins of awesomeness! I like Henson and enjoy his energy, still don't think you wanna publically call kids by names but it what it is.

You're right. It can work sometimes. And yes, Pat is a pretty poor coach.
