Has anyone heard anything about the Hulman Center expansion?
Are the city and county any closer in finding their portion of the funding?
It's been several months and it doesn't appear anything is getting done.

Looking doubtful. Last I read they need to find $37.5 mil, and were nowhere close. State has committed to same amount.

It will get done. Joey's brother is the Mayor of the city so he probably knows better than myself or maybe not I've been voting the man into office my entire adult life.

It better get done and I will leave it at that. If not heads are going to roll and I will make sure of it if no one else does.

How does the financial situation of the city play a role in this? It seems that TH finished 2015 in the red by a few million. That certainly can't help the HC project. But on the other hand, a convention center should help the economy of TH. How do the movers and shakers view the project?

I hope they do something like this in the arena. I took these pictures at Western Kentucky last December. A very nice place to watch a game, and that arena is older than Hulman Center. Would be a good type of arrangement for us, I think.

No yellow seats? That's it, I'm never going to games!

This article is from November, 2015 and states that $1.5 will be needed for engineering and design services. This was to be split among ISU, TH and the county. Does anyone know if there has been any movement on this portion of the project? Can't these yahoos understand the benefits this project will bring to the Wabash region? It seems 4 months has elapsed without shit getting done. Who is responsible for the delay? Who can we contact to express our frustration? Nothing, constructive will happen in our athletic department until this project is completed. Forget about an on-campus football stadium.
It really pisses me off that a few perceived social injustices on some college campuses can get people fired, but a project that will bring jobs, money, and an improved image to a community can't get anyone to lift a f---ing finger! There's the real social injustice!

Excuse me but if this was a desired model I would hope they would life-time sell out the private suites BEFORE they built them. Like in who is going to rent them? There is very limited use of the "private party area" that exists behind the south goal since it was established. Not something that fits the Terre Haute market. I have seen a lot of worse facilities that teams play in. The HC is a good place to watch a game as is and I have a hard time seeing the need to spend millions of dollars to do what.......make it prettier?

Over the last year I have talked to a few business owners in town that currently don't buy suite seats and their rational is why pay a bunch of money to sit behind the goal and have worse seats than they already have? They said if their were suite built in the new one where suites usually are in arenas, then they would but them.... I can't say I blame them one bit on that.

Like I said.........."life-time sell out the private suites BEFORE they built them". Suppose those local business owners would put their $$$$ there if they were available? Terre Haute traditionally is not Bowling Green KY or Wichita KS or Bloomington IN etc.

Have you been to Bowling Green? I thought it was like Terre Haute but not as nice. I bet they could sell 8-10 of them.

I think the greatest similarity between the two is the city population size... I think Bowling Green is a growing community... Is Terre Haute growing? I've seen some of the new development on the U.S-41S corridor but isn't that just development that moved from the east side?

Everyone needs to look closely at those pictures of the Western Ky gym -- and count the bodies in the seats !
For a school with such a tradition, and playing another mid-major (even if we weren't great this year), having only a couple thousand fans in the seats --- Wow !

Yes, much like ISU, they're confronted with a "no where land" identity crisis, perpetually overshadowed by Vandy on the south & Louisville on the north (not to mention UK!). Then there's the multitude of mid-majors that further squeeze for news coverage...Belmont, Tennessee State, Austin Peay, Middle TN St. and Murray St.
.
And we thought ISU media coverage was congested in the Hoosier State.

To be fair, those pictures were taken a long time before tipoff. The crowd was pretty good that day. At least it looked it...
