I do but that doesn't count. I'm usually a pretty positive fan.
I do think we have more talent and experience than we have had in a long, long time. We need to shoot a little better than last year and cut down on the TO's and we'll be fine.

I'm excited about the upcoming year. I just worry that we might miss RJ more than people think. He did not shoot the ball great last year, but without him we would have struggled even more. I think we will be much more athletic this year and hope coach uses that athleticism.

Wusses...

This is the year! If we can't be the team we all hope for this year, then we can never be that team!!! I'm not going to try to temper my enthusiasm this time around. We're gonna be GREAT! The only thing that will keep this team from achieving lofty heights will be themselves. This is our year...

Seems like that pretty much describes the last couple of years. I'm not trying to be negative, but I remember these guys in previous years and it is hard to forget the pattern. I really hope you are right. I'm not expecting you to be wrong. I just don't have the confidence you have. Really wish I did. Maybe as the season draws nearer it will improve.

I'm excited (like I am every pre-season), but this season does feel like it has the potential to be a special one. I think we'll miss RJ (and he'll miss the team), but someone will step up and fill his void.

The one thing RJ gave us was effort to the end, and I hear this year that is a thing the coach has demanded.
Even when frustration sets in they must keep up with effort. If that works we should be a VERY good team.
We have the horses, if he can keep them all pulling the same direction. The front line must perform. http://www.sycamorepride.com/images/icons/icon11.png

Not to place too much pressure on one individual player, but it really is going to depend on what kind of performance and consistency we get from Justin Gant. If we get an all-MVC first team performance from him, which I think he's quite capable of, we probably win the conference.

+1. last year when we were rolling (miami, ole miss, creighton, wichita) Gant was playing like a beast. not saying the drop off at the end was his fault because i think everybody didn't play well in late February. But Gant could be the guy that pushes us from a good team to a great team.

Ditto to the last two comments...

Well he better get healthy first because he has an ankle injury right now thats keeping him down a little bit!

But he is going to be just fine - he is a big time player, we should see that more consistantly this year!

Thanks for not putting any pressure on any single player...:hypnotized:

I don't think the success of the season will come down to any one player's performance. Just thinking about our strengths and weaknesses over the past couple years, here's what I've got.

1. Simple enough, they need to score the ball at a higher percentage.

2. They've shown that they can hang with any opponent. Have you noticed the lack of blow out wins they've had over the past few years. Another key: when you've got them down, stomp on their throats.

3. Lansing obviously likes the slow down, methodical style of offense. I am fine with that, but that being said, sometimes it appears they are in stall mode. If you've got an open look, jack it up. It seems like shooters are tentative at times. I agree with passing up good looks for great looks, but sometimes you've got to settle for the good looks.

That's what I've got. One final thought, I'm of the opinion that we have one of the better creators in the nation. Let jake do his thing. I like the jump pass. I have seen enough brilliance to put my full trust in him. Yea he may make some unnecessary turnovers some times, but his positives greatly outweigh the negatives.

By "jump pass," I hope that you're not referencing his propensity to drive to the baseline, then attempt to swing a pass cross-court while airborne along the baseline. That maneuver generally has only two options, and the risk for both is not cost-effective, especially against a reasonably astute "D."

That is what he was talking about. When was the last time you played PG in a college basketball game? No, no, better yet when was the last time you played PG at any level?

Nuff said.

Well, I never agree with BS, and I agree with him on this one. I've seen a lot of great PG's that pass the ball with their feet on the ground. You need to watch some Bird videos. The most important part of a pass is the timing, and when you are in the air you don't have the option to change the timing.
