Chow down on this, Dave...

How often did he have the ball DEEP in the paint today, and opt to put the ball on the FLOOR (and lose it) rather than take a shot? If he's afraid to get slammed in the face, wear a football helmut. He's 6'8" 240...life ain't easy down low. Whatever happened to the GANT in Hawaii last year? I saw Kitch rubbing a "floor burn" (1st one of the yr. for ISU?) and massaging his "pinky" after contact inside. Surprised that Lansing didn't pull 'em and seek medical redshirts! Frankly boyz, this team is SOFT! We should've pounded Loyola into the ground today...

So It says he needs more rebounds . I will take the production we have gotten from him so far best we have had in the middle for years. He had a bad game yesterday I will admit it but I am not ready to bench him or pull his Schollie like you are. The big guy will be fine let him play .

Gant is good when he comes to play. He doesn't always come to play and yesterday was one of those games. Unsure why he is inconsistent? He best come to play Saturday at Evansville or they will kick his ass down low.

I may be off base---but it just seems to me that he is not right---that his legs/shins are bothering him a lot more than we know about. Obviously--a player of his type is not going to talk about it or use it as an excuse but I think something is wrong.:disturbed:
Understand that Odum is also experiencing leg issues--during and after yesterdays game.
Conference is a grind---with little time to recover before the next battle! Bench players better get ready to step up if these issues persist!:stickmove:

You might be right. What's curious to me is why now? I know the guys are practicing hard, so it's not like the wear and tear only happens during games, but we had a pretty light schedule through December as far as games go and I would assume a lighter practice schedule, so I would hope we'd be a little more rested.

If Odum's suffering "tendonitis" in his knees, it again raises the issue of insufficient BACKCOURT depth only one (1) game into MVC play and the question - Should we pull Scott's redshirt and let him loose? Frankly, I'm sick & tired of this "live for tomorrow" ISU mentality re: frosh RS's. We've all looked forward to the likelihood of of an NCAA birth w/ this squad, and sure enough, the shit that many of us talked about PRE-MVC is coming to fruition. I say pull the damn RS...get him in rotation and ready for Arch Madness. Eitel v. Scott? No comparision...

Concerned about the "economics" of RS? What's the cost of a yr. RS for a GUARD v. NCAA post-season revenue? In mid-major recruiting "supply/demand" markets, what's more plentiful, front court or back court players? Our current 2014-15 recruit signees should provide your answer.

The tendinitis isn't going to go away just by having Jake play a few less minutes per game.

Hate to break it to you, without Eitel's 9 points and back to back 3s when the Sycamores couldn't throw it in the ocean in the second half that game was a lot tighter than it actually was.

But overall, no doubt going to be a more complete player. We have enough guards that don't take care of the basketball, all-be-it one terrible pass at half cour that lead to a transition dunk Eitel takes good care of the ball.

That's one GAME...Jordan Printy-like & inconsistent. Did you see his indiscretionate 28'er, that created a "stir" in HC similar to Quicken Arena, circa 2011?

Eitel is a BIG HOLE v. penetration dribble & perimeter "D" breakdown...which is where it all BEGINS!

I guess we both know that there are some on here that will NEVER agree with what Coach does. I think Lansing knows what he's doing and he sees all of the players in practice every day. It's interesting that someone who has probably never seen Scott practice knows how he compares to the guys that are playing.

I don't know if there is such a thing as "light" practice schedule this time of year (except for Christmas, of course).

We shortened the bench yesterday and considering the sub patterns are always my complaint, I thought they were better yesterday. Eitel's extra PT came at the expense of Burnett. Not sure how anyone could dislike that, especially since he was able to get into the actual flow of the game and get some looks on the offensive end.

Actually, I've thought he has been one of the best defenders at the guard spot this year. I must be watching something else.

Agreed, I've always thought Eitel was good at taking care of the ball and for his limited PT was a pretty decent 1 on 1 defender ESPECIALLY when driving to the rim. He makes mistakes yes but he definitely deserves PT over Burnett.

Although I've noticed Burnett has a knack for getting to the boards pretty well. Hope he keeps that up.

Now just a minute Backer! Do you really think that someone here would actually do that? But now that I think about it, I seem to remember critics of basketball, football, and even baseball coaching here in the past few years. Silly me, I always thought it was in jest. Funny thing though--I don't remember many negative things being said about track and cross country coaches. Oh well, nobody much cares about those sports anyway. Maybe if we were half way decent in one of them it would help. What do you guys think?

Another thing, be down on Coach all you want, BUT 10 years ago would you be mad if we were doing this well? I am ALL FOR giving coach Greg Lansing a raise and throwing some money into the Hulman Center. I know everyone is going to say that we just complain because we know how well our team can play because past games but heck we're winning. I know this is going to be a roller coaster of a season but that's Indiana State. We don't get the best players but we get good ones with a chip on their shoulder. We only have one blow out loss.

Man I sure hope we win the next two games. That will really show just how good we are if we do.

You, SSOM & a few others...

Funny how a single 3 pt shot (or two) halo's the rest of your game...Printy is solid historic proof of this "delusion."

Did he even score against Belmont? Cause I'm pretty sure I made reference to his excellent defense in that game thread.

No sir. Anyone that begs to differ is off their meds. While I disagree with some of the things the staff does from time-to-time, the proof is in the proverbial pudding. Just for added emphasis, here are the last twenty years of Sycamore hoops:

Ya, major college programs are tying up RP's phone lines trying to get permission to talk to him...that's the "topping" on your pudding!
