Jake Kelly from Terre Haute, Indiana signs with 1G Sports for professional representation.
1G Sports is excited to announce that Jake Kelly has signed with Michael Gaston and 1G Sports for professional representation. Kelly will be training in Phoenix, AZ in preparation for the June 23, 2011 NBA draft.
An Indiana native, Kelly played at Carmel High School and Marshall High School before leaving to play at the University of Iowa. Following the passing of his mother Julia Kelly, Kelly returned home to be close to his family and friends in Indiana were he finished his collegiate career at Indiana State University (ISU). In his senior season at ISU, Kelly helped his team win the Missouri Valley Conference Championship and an automatic bid in the NCAA tournament where Kelly led his team in scoring in their first round game against Syracuse University.
In preparation for the draft, Kelly started personal training with Adam Wilson a professional NBA basketball skills trainer and Desmond Wilford a professional NBA strength and conditioning trainer.
“Kelly posses all the strong qualities of a professional basketball player and 1G Sports is looking forward to fulfilling his goals of becoming a NBA basketball player,” said Michael Gaston, President and Co-Founder of 1G Sports.
As a freshman at the University of Iowa, Kelly received All-Big Ten honorable mention and set Iowa’s all-time three-point percentage (43.5%). As a Sophomore, Kelly lead his team in scoring (11.6 ppg) and received Big Ten Player of the Week honors twice while averaging 20ppg, 7rpg & 6apg over his final eight games that season.
