If there were ever a year we need to end our misery in Des Moines this is the year, but it will take a flawless game and good perimeter defense or they'll kill us from 3, as they have in the past. No matter how bad Drake has been in recent memory they've always had our number in Iowa, I hope it changes this week. Would be a huge win for us for sure.

We've actually won there twice in the past 5 years.

true, but we're 3-7 in our last 10 visits to Des Moines, so history hasn't favored us these last 10 years, regardless, I hope we win and gain some confidence going forward in MVC play

Scott I've asked you this shit before - why do you always have to been so damn negative? It's not like you are trying to be either - you are just making conversation but the majority of the time it is doom and gloom with you.

We MUST defend the three to come out with a win here. Also, I fully expect Drake to play zone. Not that I know that's their defensive MO, but any good coach would watch video of the second half of the UE game and see the blueprint. We looked better against the zone against Loyola, so hopefully we're ready for it again.

Thanks for asking. I thought I was just being over-sensitive. I am usually pretty positive so I have to allow for that when I read these posts.

I'm looking forward to this one...

If we perform on the defensive end as we did in the prior two games and the refs don't swallow the whistle, this should be a victory in stellar fashion.

Defend period. If you remember to last years game, we didn't defend the post well, either at their place. But you definitely need to defend Timmer and not let him just set up shop. The good news for us is Gary Ricks is gone and he seemed to just flat out have our number.

I'd also like to see them zone us. I'm not sure they're anywhere near as athletic or skilled as Loyola or Evansville so we should be able to have some success against it. Will be interesting to see who they put on their Northwestern transfer since it looks like he plays the 4. Will it be Smith or will they let Van Scyoc give it a go?

Looks like he's fairly mobile, so Smith would likely get the assignment...I'd stick Brown on Timmer, keeping "fresh legs" between him & Clemons.
They also have another G named Woodward that'll be a headache. Scott should be able trim his wings:

I see where the Dawgs def. Western KY down in Florida in OT:

We do pretty well shutting down the "star" players but have an awful track record of making someone else an all-american at times. Don't let it be the seven footer please.

Hey lay off....at least Scott keeps posting his death, catastrophe, and destruction when NO ONE else is posting during the "Dead Times" on here.....and I can't believe he has less post on here than you.

I thought as much as he keeps things going on here with scores, updates, and whatnots....even during the most ruinous of times, that Scott would have more posts.

Plus, he has you like what, 7" in height on you, even at his advanced age....I bet he can still take you. LOL!!!
