Got home early from truck driving today and had the opportunity to kayak from Old Mill Dam to the Wabash River (6.6 miles) for the very first time. Kayaked a mile back upstream and had someone pick me up at 41. The water level on the creek was perfect today.

Nice! I think Vigo County should promote this trip more than it does... maybe even begin to work the creek a little to make sure that it is navigable more often.. Drop off at Mill Dam (Even better would be to connect the First National Lake to Otter Creek!).... and pick up ramps by the river... I just googled your trip following Otter Creek further North/East - and you could even go back more to where it splits (Robertson/Davis) pretty easily..

I also think that we could do something on the south end with Thompson ditch... it would require pumping some water from the Wabash up to Deming Park to begin the trip .... but the ditch is carved out with banks... and would be ideal for paddlboat/kayak/canoe trips through the city!

Shoulda fished some…I need to get on a kayak and do that in OC
As much as I like being on the water, I've never really enjoyed fishing. I did see some pretty good sized fish, but I think they were mostly those invasive carp based on how they were behaving.
