Who has seen the video? Thoughts?

Mine are as follows:

A. ESPN does a great job making these stories bigger than they actually are and shame on them for that. You can villify the guy all you want but he just got done making a hustle play. Compare this deffensive play to Durrant the one night when he gave up the game winning layup. Heck of an effort by Smart.

B. No one wins here and no eccuse for Smart - you simply can't react like that. However, usually when a player makes a hustle play like that fans help a kid up or even try and block his fall - they are usually smart enough to recognize good effort when they see it. In this isntance some punk fan saw it as an oppertunity to take a cheap shot.

C. Let's not pretend that Smart cold cocked the guy. This was no Lagaret Blount punch or Ron Artest - he pushed the guy, ho hum move on.

Thoughts??

I saw it.

No excuse for any player going into the stands to place a hand on a fan. That's all there is to it.

To use an SSOMism....The End.

He was in the stands - he didn't like walk from the free throw line into the stands. His effort put him in the stands as the kid (still a kid) is laying on the ground a grown ass man says something to him...

Ofcourse he can't react like that - I'm not defending his reaction - but the story here is the moron who started it. Smart made a hard ass clean play and got provoked.

Oh yeah, the fan is absolutely and utterly a moron, no question. And he totally provoked Smart. But Smart needs to be...well...smart, and not take it as far as he did.

The fan should not be allowed in the building for the remainder of the year.

Marcus proved that idiot is spelled S M A R T.

It would be best if this stays within the hands the schools and the NCAA, and totally out of the court system. However if athletes wee being paid to play as some suggest it should be determined by the courts with each individual, and not the school or NCAA, providing representation when needed.

If this happens at Charlies Hideaway, and someone shoves someone else, they've committed a crime, and they could be arrested for Misdemeanor Battery.

If this happens at Charlies, and they shove someone with a beer mug, or beer bottle in hand, then you've moved up to Felony Battery.

'Get' Smart, committed a crime, and he could have been arrested,....and maybe for all of college basketball sake, maybe he still should be.

He is still not out-of-the-woods, he (and OSU) still could be sued in a Civil Court....by the injured...or aggrieved party...of course we may never hear about, as monies may would be paid in advance, to avoid the negative publicity.

Either way, the guys a major tool.....and probably should have spent some time as a child learning nursery rhymes..."Sticks and stones, may break my bones, but a fans heckling, can't hurt me."

Awfully interesting perspective right here...

I tell you, I've got no problem finding fault in Smarts poor judgement. But I won't find fault in it with anyone who can't acknowledge fault on the antagonist grown ass man that dropped an N Bomb (if that was indeed what was said). That kid flew into the stands playing hard - that is unimaginably low to say something to a kid while he is laying on the floor after giving that kind of effort - it shouldn't matter what effort he gave.

I actually witnessed a similar situation in college and had to provide a legal statement to the compliance officer at IState because the athlete pressed charges. My teammate (who shall remain nameless) and I were running side-by-side in an Open (which means it was just a training race because we were not XC runners) XC race. We were probably 1.5 miles into a 3.1 mile race. My teammate and I go to pass a kid, he goes to his left (right on the inside line of the course) and I go around the right (outside) of him. My teammate brushes shoulders with the kid and the kid goes and shoves my teammate in the back and nearly to the ground - well he shoved the wrong dude, Indiana State teammate turns and lands a hay-maker right on the button and drops the kid on the spot.

After the race (game), an older gentlemen (much respected former Evansville coach) comes up to my teammate and asks him "what was that all about" and my teammate responds "Get the fuck away from me old man". Well he didn't know that was Evansville's coach and that probably didn't help matters. My teammate broke the kids nose and it was taken to the courts. It was settled prior to trial and my teammate is now a Police officer. My friend shouldn't have reacted the way he did, being pushed in the back probably didn't warrant breaking the kids nose and he paid the price for it. He was also suspended from a meet or two if I recall.

The point of this being - Smart is still and kid just like my teammate was at the time and sometimes we make mistakes. That doesn't make it okay and Smart will pay a price for this and he should. But to call him a tool and act like he is the only one at fault here is a complete joke.

SSOM....two wrongs, don't make a right. PERIOD. And physically attacking someone, is over the top, with the 2nd wrong.

Maybe Marcus is just bat-shit crazy, and hears things.

As far down on the floor as he was, and with all the crowd and band noise going on....it's hard to believe that above the roar....he heard someone call him Nancy! and then was immediately able to identify who it was....out of the 50 or so people, in the immediate area.

And maybe it was a fellow brotha, with a different mutha that said something....and because of Smarts own racial bigotry, he thought it was a white guy yelling, Nancy!!!

Fair enough... I see it different but so is life. Good evening to you.

And maybe an alien teleported into the crowd right at that moment and whispered in Smart's ear. You sure like your hypotheticals.

Not likely someone would win a lawsuit over a shove, not unless there was a hard fall and injuries.

No Smart shouldn't have shoved the guy, but it's hard to believe something wasn't said to provoke him. Don't think he got up pissed and just randomly picked that dude to go shove. Maybe it was someone else, extreme stretch though to spin it the way you are.

Some of us forget about the "Great Winged One" down @ NM State who flapped his wings at a fan in Las Cruces...there are some real head cases w/ loud mouths around America, stretching those 5th amendment jaw muscles. Whatever was said obviously went BEYOND the play itself.

The Marcus Smart incident may have worked in the favor of the mid-major. At 2 games back of .500 of their league, and 3 tough games without Smart coming up the cowboys are in trouble. No team has made the tourney with a losing conference record from the BIG 12. Bracketologists still consider Baylor on the bubble as well. At 2-8 in the league, not possible. Not saying that we are a tournament team right now, but keep winning and we may have to be selected by default.

We sure as hell don't look like a post season team rite now! Post season is a pain in the ass....we have made noise twice (TWO TIMES) in 100 years and poor prospects now. Forgetaboutit!

A lot of air went out of that ISU/Shox balloon Wednesday night...students were obviously "bummed out," thus the 50+ only branches waving as the wind blew thru the "Forest." ISU team was also obviously "psychologically winded." But we won, overcoming HUGE obstacles in our heads, and are slowly rolling forward again. By Wednesday, we'll be ready. Life's back on track...

How's that for NEGATIVE?

Had to double check to make sure it was really you! LOL

Smart gets a 3 game suspension. Fan said he will not attend any more Texas Tech home or away games.

Smart originally said fan said racist remarks. Fan stated (and has been verified by folks in immediate area) that he called Smart a "piece of crap." Smart has since apologized to the fan and backed off racist allegation. Sports "journalists" on Twitter that basically ran with racist story -- not a single recant by them but now they're calling into question the integrity of the fan and Texas Tech sports.

Pot. Kettle.

All a part of fitting their narrative. The same narrative that all journalists use...
