Kyle Kuric's dad paid his final season @ Louisville...he's a neurosurgeon in E-ville. If you can swing it, why not? Greater team depth by freeing a schollie.

The fact that his dad also is the coach is my issue. I know it's a one time technicality, but what is stopping unscrupulous coaches from hiring a prep star's pops and then paying him so he could pay the kids way? Far fetched possibly... but still.

I can't stand it because of the media attention Creighton is suddenly getting - they are BE team and suddenly this matters?!?! The hell is that all about.

That is a pretty popular already. Danny Manning did that years ago.

I don't like it either. Give your coach a bonus and it's like paying for a scholarship that doesn't count against you. Another scenario, coach adopts player as his son and then pays his way. It just looks bad.

Hell, nowdayz a coach could MARRY the same-sex kid! Talk about convoluted values...:dead:
Just think, we're rapidly approaching the day where "queer" is the "norm." Webster's gonna need to update his dictionary...

Don't most universities comp thief employees education credits? I know my aunt worked for MSU and her daughter attended at no charge. One difference from walking on and scholarship is the stipend. Doug would not be eligible for that this year.

Sure. It's a benefit of working for a college or university, one way to keep employees. By being on a scholarship, Doug basically received a similar benefit.

I wonder though, how often do you have a player of this caliber pay his on way? Never mind is his or her dad a coach. In the end though, Creighton isn't our problem now, so I don't care as much as I might otherwise.

Right. This would be Issue #1 if they were still in the MVC.

Or, an affluent family could take in a teenage kid who has star athlete potential, give him room and board out of the kindess of their heart (yeah, right!), adopt him once they find out the kid's mother isn't capable of taking care of him, raise him as if he's a part of the family, give him a car, get him tutoring so he makes the grades necessary to be eligible to play college sports, and then steer him towards their alma mater. The kid goes on to be an professional athlete assuring the affluent family only becomes affluent-er, somebody then writes a book about the story, the book becomes a movie, and the family becomes even weathier!

Where does it end!!!

Apparently with said player nearly losing his job as a starter right before the team goes on a run and wins a SB. It truly is a Hollywood story, I guess.

Yea right, like THIS could ever happen!

Next thing you're going to tell me is some big ocean liner sank because it hit ice or something. Hey, maybe they will make some movie about that too! I doubt it would do to well though.
