Well, it is a statement from Dept of Education in the last week of the Biden Administration. It could be a move motivated to secure votes in next election after it is rescinded.
 
These people really don't think these things through.

This is likely going to lead to the schools going that private equity route and getting out of operating the big money teams themselves. They license their identity and a third-party org runs the club outside of the school's purview.

Anybody with 2 brain cells rubbing together will tell you if a school is distributing NIL and they have to distribute too non-revenue sports at an equal ratio as revenue, it's going to end up a disaster.

There isn't a single school that would support that motion. If the NCAA wants this to be a business (which it looks like they do if they support paying players) then they have to start allowing schools to make smart business decisions
