Terribly. I just don't understand random violence like this. Obviously the individual has something wrong with him... it's just too bad nobody in his life could get him help before something like this happened.

Anyone want to connect violent video games to this incident? Of course, there is a connection. I don't believe banning them would make a difference but this is a classic example how these freektoids basically "insert" themselves into the guy with a machine gun in the game and then make it REAL. It sucks.

And if he's spent his hours playing 'Pong' or 'Space Invaders'?

not sure I buy your logic; seems to me the 'freektoid' (your word) would have found some way to "make it REAL."

No logic involved, 4Q. It is a known fact that there is a correlation between the violence depicted in violent video games and this type of random violence carried out in the real world. The term "freektoid" refers to the fact that the guy is mentally unstable. Nothing else. Are you saying that he is "normal"? If you do not think that an X-box game cannot transfer over to this kind of attack, no biggie. It's your opinion, and you can believe what you want. I do and I think the majority of people out there see the connection. And it would seem that the freektoid DID, in fact, find a way to make it real. The only difference....he killed or wounded 50. In the game, he likely would have killed hundreds.

But if his mission was to kill as many as possible why did he tell the police that his apartment is booby trapped, he could have killed police and possibly his neighbors. This was one well planned out mission and he succeeded.

Yeah, and guns don't kill people, except when they do, especially in the United States of the NRA. And so it goes . . . on to the next massacre of the innocents, the next "accident" in a home with an unsecured, unneeded firearm, the next school classroom, the next and the next. So strap it on everyone, this is the wild west of the twisted imagination and to be safe in our minds everyone just better be armed to the teeth.

Sorry, but if he's truly a "freektoid," would the video games be part of the 'formula?'

Ted Bundy didn't have video games (didn't he admit prior to the chair that he exaggerated the role porn played in his 'development?')

Are video games too violent? Yes. Are THEY the reason this person committed these acts? I'm unconvinced.

So... a pistol can use a revolver to kill a person?

Since we know ZERO about what his mind was thinking, I would think that remains to be seen. I am totally guessing that he likely falls into that category. Dylan Klebold (one of the Columbine perpetrators) had a similar obsession. You are missing the point. I did not say that video games caused this tragedy, but I might bet that James Holmes had a similar background as young Mr. Klebold. We've seen it before and we will see it often in the future. Ted Bundy had plenty demons of his own and video games had barely touched the surface back then. I doubt that Donkey Kong EVER killed anybody any way. Come on now, that comment is irrelevant. I am not going to go back and forth over all of this. I made a statement and I stand by it. If you don't agree with me, FINE. It means nothing to me.

And I can't wait to hear why the movie theater let him in without checking him more thoroughly. He had a bullet proof armor on, was carrying gas grenades, was wearing a gas mask and we do not know how many guns he was carrying but ONE is all it took. I had heard yesterday on a newscast that they were worried about this type of incident because of the nature of the movie and there had been some threats in the social media. Plenty of blame to go around.

You got me there, 4Q. Might as well leave the flood gates open on those pistols, revolvers, automatic clip fed hunting pieces. All is well and safe, and then, suddenly but regularly, it isn't.

Bally, as I understand it, they say he came in through a emergency exit door from the back of the building. He had three guns with him and one in the car. They arrested him standing at his car with Tennessee plates though he has no known connections to TN, his parents live in San Diego.

Cant people just be F****ng mental and have no ties to video games, left wing, right wing, Al Qeada......blah blah I hate that we have to solve all this with video games or tea party or left wing nuts.......some people have no coping mechanisms......plain and simple....and blaming stuff before facts are out and those killed are still lying in that theater makes me a wild man. Lets get the facts.

Screw IU

I am trying to give you the facts as the come from the Aurora Police Dept. via NBC and CNN.

Might be time to repeal the 2nd amendment and dismantle the NRA. Time to begin changing American culture.

Violence is as American as apple pie -- Malcolm X

Ray Kelly: Gunman Said He Was The Joker

CBS New York reports:

New York Police Commissioner Ray Kelly said the gunman suspected of attacking a crowded movie theater in Aurora, Colorado resembled Batman’s arch-villain “The Joker” at the time of the shocking attack.

“We have some information, most of it is public. It clearly looks like a deranged individual. He had his hair painted red, he said he was ‘The Joker,’ obviously the ‘enemy’ of Batman,” Kelly said at a news conference after noon.

TonyAielloNY @ TonyAielloNY : NYPD Commissioner Kelly is said to be tight w/Aurora Chief Dan Oates, who rose to Dep. Chief during 21 years w/NYPD

LOL! Clip fed hunting pieces? I know of no hunters that hunt with a "clip fed hunting pieces".

Guns don't kill people, people kill people. You can put a new gun law into effect tomrrow and people are still going to own guns and be able to get guns. If a convicted felon can get his or her, white or black (To be PC because this place is insane as of late) on a firearm then gun lawa do NOTHING to stop violent crimes and mass murder from occuring. Don't blame this incident on the NRA - this as nothing to do with them.

Lastly, I will be damned if I get into a gun law discussion on here with relation to this terrible event. My thoughts and prayers go out to the victims family and friends.

I will agree that guns are the preferred weapon of choice to kill/maim. That being said, it's PEOPLE who make the CHOICE not the weapon that makes it.

If you can't understand that logic...
