First off...sycamore vision was down...I didn't see the game but from what I have heard here is my take. Oddly I am pleased because that is a very very good football team that beat us today in a very tough environment and we played a bad football game and lost our star RB (our whole offense) and kept the game in question...If we played a smooth game with no injuries I am positive we win...Our d played like champions today until the last drive or so....but those boys are for real....Our o put them in holes today too....they made that goaline stand and forced field goals and stopped a 4th and 1 against the #2 team in the country at their place on their homecoming...I'm impressed....after tonight I honestly don't think there is anymore we ask of the defense...they got sacks on 3rd downs...defended the pass well...pursued rennie...wow....Our O...first of all I don't have to see anymore games this year or any other teams Rb's to make this statement..."Shakir Bell" is the best back in the mvfc and possibly FCS...if he doesn't get hurt we win...I can say this because...he was going to break a couple and score...15 carries for 159 yds....seriously? that is amazing and everyone knows it...opponents and all....and as for everyone else....sounded like fouch could have easily thrown 4 ints today...don't know what was up with that...our passing game got into rythm too late but at least it picked up a lil bit...I hope the commentators are lying when they kept saying fouch threw into triple coverage a lot and had his eye on jones the whole time on his picks...he is lots better than that.....and i wish taje high could back up bell....lough and cheese aren't getting it done when they play RB.....we can't miss field goals and ex points when we are away at someone's homecoming in a dome...there is something called momentum that makes a difference....we shot ourselves in the foot and I think we gave that game away....but that is good...all fixable mistakes and looking forward to the rest of the year for sure.... prediction WE beat North Dakota State but they beat uni somehow.... then we tie UNI for first in the mvfc...meet them again in the playoffs and win 24-17......sounds good anyway....

Shakir Bell only had 145 yards rushing, and yes Fouch did throw into triple coverage a couple of times. One was the INT he threw, where there were 3 guys around Alex Jones. Our kicking games must improve if we want to win in the playoffs and the regular season.

shakir bell only had 145 yds on 15 carries...that is crazy good still.....20 carries for 100 yds a game is great for any RB....145 yd in a half of football and he hadn't even broken his long run yet which was destined to happen everytime a run game is operating like it was and against #2 team in the country....unheard of....best rb in fcs...I wonder if the other RB who is ahead of him sat out his first game...played two fbs schools and the mvfc is the toughest conference so bell is seeing tough comp week in and week out...

ONLY??? He had 145 rushing yards in the first half! If UNI doesn't use a cheapshot to take him out he could have had another 250. He was killing them!

No doubt, UNI was NOT going to contain him. I would have bet my right gonad(my favorite)that he would have busted at least one run for 40-50 yrs. all the way at some point in the game had he not been injured.

A run for 40-50 years is a long time? I think you meant to put yds.

As a guy that has done all but one ISU game on the radio....

and that was UNI game (missed it due to work considerations)....but as good as Ronnie Fouch is, and he can be very good, he does at times tend to lock onto one receiver and tries to force the ball into coverage...and that's a bad habit that he needs to get out of.....

One of Fouch's interceptions was not necessarily on him. Receivers can't quit on routes, and have to make plays sometimes to avoid the turnover. I have to give a shout out to #3 for passing the 300 mark in career tackles with 11 on the game to bring him to 305. That's a lot of dirty work!

Sewall really played well. He showed a lot of heart, the whole defense did really. They had a great game, minus the long TD pass late.

in the history...NO WAY....very good player though...that is a big statement...I would pick him on my team for sure but to say that he is the best ever to put on the blue at his position...dietrich lapsley holds the records in some tackling departments for sure....I had the pleasure of playing with him....he was amazing too....played alot like sewall....I think our D has never been stacked with talent like this across the board maybe ever....but it is tough to point out single positions....sewall is up there though...

Lapsley is listed as a LB in the record book. He is 2nd in career tackles at 415 to Richard Moss at 426. 400 is a huge number of tackles. There are 3 other DBs on the 300-tackle list: Robert High (1994-1997) at 393, Terrance Miles (2000-2003) at 342, and John Allman (1978-1980) at 336. Alex is currently 5th in the FCS nationally in career active tackle leaders. I agree, it's interesting conversation, but to compare players against eachother is tough--too many other variables involved. They are all good though, and Vencie Glenn has been very gracious to the current DBs when he gets back to Terre Haute.

He's one of the best. That's all that matters. THE BEST is always a silly debate to get into.

Yeah, Vencie Glenn and Rick Murphy earned All-America honors....

at safety....Vencie went on to have a good and long NFL career....Murphy played in the World Football League...Bobby Turner, now the assistant head coach/RBs coach of the Washington Redskins, played safety at Indiana State and set the school record with nine interceptions in 1968.

John Allman was All-Missouri Valley Conference and honorable mention All-American (he is the closest thing to Ryan Roberts. John played running back before making the move to safety)....Indiana State has had its share of very good safeties over the years....And Alex Sewell is just the latest in that lineage....

Let's not forget, too, that a player's legend grows after they're gone and you miss them. No doubt Sewall will be long remembered with those other great names. Have to say, Larry King has been looking solid as well.
