WANTED: Passionate Sycamore Fanatics. That You?

Register NOW to join our community of die-hard Sycamore fans.

The fanbase will come if they start winning more games. You basketball guys went ape shit last year because we had a great team (winning record). Lansing years when we were mid pack, where was the fan base? Same with baseball.
This team can build off of our key young players. Owens and Lawrence were a steal as recruits. You know as well as anyone Jason, that very few ISU alums make the big bucks. Purdue with there engineering school and IU with their law and medical alums have the extra money to donate. You see how all that money is doing wonders for The Boilermakers.
We’re a below average FCS football team! But, the play is exciting (especially today), and I know the haters are watching and cheering for a win.

So the answer is no. Got it.

Goes without saying. But, guys like you that want to get rid of football are watching every game. You chime in on comments. And I’m pretty sure you’re not hoping for a loss so you can continue the “Get Rid Of Football” talk.
Maybe I’m wrong?

If the Sycamores are competing, this fan base is watching and hoping for a win. No one on this board is hoping for loses for the sake of discussion and future of our football program.

I don’t understand some of you guys, and that’s probably a good thing I guess.

You say that when we win that it’s crickets on the board and people only comment when we lose to further the drop-football agenda. Although when we do win people do come on the board to talk about it, and you’re all upset about it.

You’re like a bunch of MLS fans from back in the day. You almost like it because it’s not popular and you want to band together to do whatever it takes to make it popular, but then you get pissed when casual fans start to take notice and enjoy it.

A bunch of fuckin women…I swear.

Who's donating 4 figures annually to an NIL fund that's not tax deductible? Anyone doing that has more money than they have sense. Nobody on here can even give a straight answer on how the money is distributed.

No, football supporters should not give a single dollar to NIL. It should go to the school to preserve the program.

I know you guys do not stay current, but there was the FCS/IAAA framework being developed that was announced back in January I posted about. They finalized their report in June or July. Their recommendation was to no longer be divided by football but instead by basketball. Their second line item was for schools to sponsor basketball and then a minimum number of sports.

They also slipped in the possibility of having levels within that grouping with those schools that want autonomy at this level. Go find the report and read it. I've said it for a long time... it is fucking critical for football supporters to start giving to the program via the SAF. Or you guys can just hope that the student fees will continue to subsidize it for you I suppose.

We need to really clear some things up here and I speak for everyone on here - because I know everyone on here if not personally I know them from years of posting here. Many have been hardline supporters of football and keeping the program going.

1) No one and I mean no one is hoping for a loss to be able to come on this fucking forum and make a point and throw it in your face Bobby, 96, Tuff and a few other long time ISU Football fans and players. That’s an ignorant assertion.

- Bobby on a personal note I don’t know when I said I wasn’t a football guy but I lied, I love football. I don’t miss a single Colts game and I regularly tune into ISU games likes today. I watched a little OSU Penn State today, a little A&M vs. SC. Like, I enjoy football very much. My parents were at the game today my sister and her family were at the game today. You don’t know me at all so please understand when I say - if Indiana State football was .500 or better every year for 6 out of the next 10 years, people were showing up at games and people are donating money we are not having this conversation. None of those things are currently happening by the way - for 0 out of the last 10 years.

2) You can still watch and cheer for Indiana State football but also in the back of your mind know from a business perspective what’s in the best interest of Indiana State.

3) Ya all brought this up - ya bitch and bitch about it constantly being a topic but Tuff couldn’t help himself and Bobby you couldn’t help yourself because you think people on here personally feel so good about themselves when InState loses that they rush to SycamorePride to throw it in ya all’s face and make a point. This program is so past that point - no one is taking pleasure in trying to help you all understand.

4) Second to lastly, the AD is absolutely a football guy. He came here with the hopes and dreams of turning this program around. I have no doubt that in the back of his mind - especially seeing some success this year that he’s still hopeful for that to become a reality. But I also think his eyes have been opened to what a monumental challenge it would be to have a consistent winner at Indiana State in football. It will simply never happen.

5) Give Mallory his flowers… Ya all wanted him to open it up and he did today on multiple occasions. They’ve got a little momentum. Find it within yourself to give the man some credit for once.

I can sense the butt hurt on here. We beat the ranked 15th team in the country and now we suddenly have to pretend like the football haters have been totally on board since day 1. How many of you guys are going to show up to the Illinois State game for senior day? Especially if you live in the Wabash Valley, don't complain that ISU football has no fan support when you won't get off your couches to show up to a game on a regular basis. I know you all will be giddy to show up to the Hulman Center to watch the basketball team play D3, NAIA, and low-major schools this winter, so what's the excuse?

Legend has it that ISU has the worst facilities in D1. Let's pretend that's true (it's not). If we can beat the ranked 15th team in the country that has great facilities and plays in a dome, just imagine what ISU could do if they seriously invested in the program and upgraded our facilities. We could potentially be a powerhouse in a multiple bid league.

Legend also has it that our team today is just as bad as the garbage that Lou West put out for 3+ years and that it's time to drop the program. What a joke. You guys need to get a clue and actually pay attention once in a while. What was nice to see is that Mallory did open up the playbook and gave our team a great chance at winning yesterday. Kudos to him, the rest of the coaching staff, and the team for picking up a big win yesterday. Hopefully we'll be able to build off of this season and continue to have even more success next season!

Great post. This was a quality win with Mallory opening it up on offense. Like SSOM mentioned, give credit to Mallory for taking advantage of his QB versatility.

The fact you supporters still want to argue with us when we advise you to donate money to the school to make sure the program sticks around is certainly an interesting wrinkle to the whole conversation we've been having.
