It’s a strategy. He comes in really fresh and closes out the game - think baseball, 9th in closer comes in hasn’t played the entire game. Boom 102 gas. Game.
When I played 30 seconds left is when you put the little fat kid at the end of the bench in so his mom wouldn’t bitch he didn’t get in the game. 🤷‍♂️

In reality this was a pretty nice win for us and especially the conference.

I know at-larges are basically over at this point for MMs but it’s still important for the MVC to stay in that “best of the rest” category with the WCC, A10, MWC, and AAC. A perceived bottom MVC team grabbing a 9 point road win over a perceived top OVC is really solid on paper.

Besides on all the stuff we need to improve on this was a solid win. We aren’t close to a perfect product whatever that looks like. Will be interesting to see what we like a month from now to conference play to March.

EDWARDSVILLE, Ill. - Indiana State men's basketball picked up its first win against a Division I opponent this season with a 64-55 win on the road against SIUE to improve to 2-1 on the season.

Player notes: Jo Van Buggenhout and Hunter Harding remained out. However, Van Buggenhout was no longer in a walking boot. Slessinger said there’s still no timeline on a return. He also noted Martin Kaupanger is redshirting this season.

Had a dinner event tonight so missed the game live but just watched it back.

Can anyone explain what the coaching staff was doing after we got the sizeable lead in the first half? Thankfully they went away from that nonsense in the 2nd but that should have been a 20+ point victory with how well we played for the majority of the game.

Felt like Vorst and Wagner came out and set the tone. In any event, you always will take a road dub. On to Duke.

We quit moving the ball as much and started playing a little hero ball (Young). Then we started playing not to lose instead of finishing the game like we should have. We definitely left points on the board.

If you combine our two centers, actually, their production is not bad.
Enel and Scott are giving us good numbers at the 4.
Need less TO's and better shooting.
Keep working guys.

After Hall got into foul trouble, we didn't have a PG. Maybe that was the difference. Wonder what Hall's +- was?

Take away the last 3ish minutes of the game I thought Hall was fantastic. I mean 2 of the 3 turnovers I put on him - he's the PG he's got the ball in his hands in that moment he's got to take care of it. To not even get a shot on 3 straight possessions down the stretch will typically get you beat. I also think he's going to get exposed (because of his size) defensively and his inability (thus far) to make open shots as a PG is concerning to say the least.

It was the morning of game day and I had to wonder...

Can we please shoot better than 30% at the three point line? Negative, 23.3%
Will we out-rebound SIUE? Affirmative, 43-40.
Which Cougar will scorch the Sycamores? None.
Which Sycamore will scorch the Cougars? None.
Who will score more points, Vorst or Harding? Harding, 8-5.
Who will have more rebounds, Harding or Vorst? Vorst, 6-5.
Who will play more minutes, Varding or Horst? Harding, 24-16.
How many dunks will St. Bernard have? None.
Will Walker play more than 15 minutes? Negative, 5.
Is Camp's thumb feeling any better? Yes, according to his stats and his post-game interview. But it's not at 100%.
Will Hall have a third game in a row with nine assists? Negative, 4.
Will we go into the Duke game with a winning record? Yes, 2-1.
Or are we destined to start the season 1-3? Thank goodness, destined to be 2-2.
