I think the biggest problem I have with Deon Sanders is all of the showing off he seems to do. He was in one of the poorest areas of the country (Jackson, Mississippi) and he was constantly "flexing" with Louis V and gold chains. Then he acts surprised that someone tried to break into the JSU locker room and steal his stuff.
If he just showed up and did his job without all the extracurricular nonsense I'd like him a lot better. At this point he dumped JSU for a big paycheck at Colorado. I suppose maybe he needs more money after blowing it on jewelry and ridiculously expensive clothing. Who knows?
First of all the guy is probably one of the top 10 or top 5 DB's in the Modern Era of Football... The guy made his money and has every God given right to spend it and show it off however he wants. You really care that he's flexing bling? You realize that it's pretty culturally appropriate for him to put on like that right? Rhetorical. I mean if you are really that put off with how he dresses and how he acts then I guess just look away - I suppose it's not for everyone. But to denounce it? Give me a break.
Given your age, you likely don't recall the Bill McCartney Era @ Boulder -- when Sanders can compete for and win a national title; I still won't care that he "sold out" a spring football practice/scrimmage.
As of now, Sanders is looking up a Boulder Mountain and McCartney, Barnett, Neuheisel, Folsom - hell, even Mallory are well ahead of him.
Yeah... Admittedly, I was lazy and didn't do a quick google search of Colorado football history. Perhaps because I really don't care - I should have assumed in the existence of the school they would have had some success along the way.
I wasn't really on here touting him selling out a spring football game... I was touting it in light of what was posted by @treeman because I don't really agree with his overall take of the situation. I think I articulated that clear enough without even discussing the spring game.
