Scott Keeney has officially been ruled "OUT" for this weekends Great Lakes Regional Cross Country Meet at IU. The 4 time all MVC preform has a serious back injury that will cause him to miss the meet.

This is a monumental blow to the Sycamores who hope to run well enough to earn an at large bid for Nationals a week from Monday. The good thing is the Sycamores are a deep team and can find a replacement, the bad news is you don't replace a former national qualifier and a 4 time All MVC performer.

Consider this bulletin board material...

As much as I love my Sycamores and as many of those guys are my former teammates and friends, this will be to much to over come. The Sycamores ware a young team with a bunch of talent, but I don't see how they will be able to overcome this?

This Sycamore team has a lot of fight in it and you can be damm sure they wont go down without a fight!

But what a rough way to end what was a brilliant Cross Country career for my good friend and former teammate/roommate Scott Keeney!

I hadn't heard that. That's a bummer. Congrats to him though for getting the MVC State Farm Good Neighbor Award.

this is a bad bad deal for Scott, hopefully the rest of the team steps it up in his absence and places top 5! let's go Sycamores!

Sorry to hear it Scott. Congrats on a helluva cross country career as a sycamore. If things don't work out for the team goin to nationals get healthy so we can see some fast track times.

You guys act like its already over......correct me if I am wrong...if ISU makes cross country nationals, he can run right?

That is very true... But he would only have one more week to get ready and given that he has not ran all week, I would say he's not in good shape. If he has a stress fracture in his hip, it could very well be career ending at this point.

If the team does make Nationals and he is able to run, I would not worry about him being out of shape. I mean a whole summer and season of training will not just go away that quickly and with the kind of talent Scott has he will be fine as long as his hip/back is fine.

When I said not in "good shape" I was talking about his injury not so much his conditioning. I understand that he has been cross training and that he would be ok from a condition standpoint. The fact that he is not able to run this weekend tells me that he is not in very "good shape" from an injury standpoint - thus he's hurting pretty bad.
