Brutal way to lose the last 2 nights. That basically solidified no MVC reg title. Gotta stay in the top 4 for the tourney.

Seville has walked us off what 3 times now the last few years. It’s been some very entertaining games between the squads but we are their Super Bowl. I mean the kid took a Gatorade bath and had no shirt on

I am fighting so hard to not give up. What this bullshit in college athletics has done to our teams is beyond frustrating and I don't see a way through it for schools like us. I've been giving and donating and doing all I can......but the only thing that's coming of it all is I'm wasting money I could be saving for my family. Just about to walk away from it all.

Well we already new we weren’t going to win the regular season

The tourney is the only thing that matters.

And if our offense can average about 17 runs a game in the conference tourney we might have a chance
Its just feels soul crushing knowing where our athletics were headed 2 seasons ago.....now we are watching the demise rapidly occurring before us.....all in the name of "progress for players".....GTFOH

So hard to watch. Hell it even looked like we paid the Evansville left fielder tonight.

I’m just not that broken up about this game or the season.

We lost our coach, lost a lot of talent to graduation and the draft and then lost some to the bigger schools. We all knew this season was going to be a step back.

But we also have a handful of freshman that I’m very impressed with. Martinez has been really good as a replacement for Magill at catcher, I like Ortiz and Henderson in the outfield. We have some nice building blocks for next year. We will lose Peña to graduation but I think Cantu steps in to replace his hitting.

And before anyone says “sure the freshman are good but the bigger schools will just take them”, I say “maybe”. And it’s a big “maybe. I’m not convinced that many schools have large NIL budgets for baseball outside the SEC and ACC, and those schools can’t take everyone. Only so many at bats to go around.

I think Arch has done a solid job with what he has, which is overall a pretty young team without a lot of experience. Even the guys we brought back (like Peña) didn’t get a ton of appearances last year because of how good we were.

We just have to find some guys at the JC level or maybe a few D1 transfers that can throw strikes consistently and get outs.

We will have a solid core of position players back next year. We just have to improve our pitching.

Solid analysis. If we were getting blown out it would be different, but the guys we have are competing hard.

Interesting tidbit.

Watching the Florida vs Miss State game and a Florida batter stepped in front of the catcher on a stolen base attempt that was very similar to the play that happened in our game earlier. Except the batter was only called out on strikes and the runner was allowed to stay at 2nd base.

Needless to say the Miss State coaches were not happy with the call and one was thrown out of the game.

Obviously the rule is selectively enforced.

2 ways to look at it. But the valley played out beautifully for the sycamores this weekend but we failed to take advantage. League leading Missouri State went 1-2 vs UIC and Illinois State got swept by a horrible Bradley team. We could have clearly been in the title hunt had we won last night. I'm holding on to a dream I know, because we could still win it. We just got a figure some things out on the mound though

I like your rose colored glasses, but the only thing to figure out is who are we going to recruit for next year's pitching staff.
