Make that 41-20. The officials changed their minds about whether the PAT was good. Seriously?

To me, this is a sign of great coaching. The adjustments we have made on defense have made all the difference in this game. Great job by the coaching staff!!!

Agreed on the adjustments.

Wow.

We couldn't stop them in the first half and now they can't convert a single first down in the second.

Illinois beat SDSU 56-3

Jacksonville up 7-0 on Western Ill. at Western in first quarter.

Youngstown State up 14-0 over Valpo in the first quarter.

All other games are night games.

My mistake. I thought South Dakota State had a touchdown.

Shoot, I'll certainly take 41-7 against Penn State over 56-3 against Illinois.

Sycamores with another touchdown!!!!!!

48-20 Sycamores early in the fourth.
 
Just gave up another touchdown. 48-34.

Our D played well in the third, but otherwise Butler moved it against us with ease.

Sorry, but I don't see a lot of positives coming out of this game. I know some will talk about the alleged Butler rivalry. I won't listen. This is football. We should be on a different level. There were many, MANY mistakes today. This team didn't seem prepared at all. If we're going to compete with WKU and the MVC schools we better get it together.
 
The one plus I'm looking at is that this game is a wake-up call. They had an entire off-season to prepare for Penn State and obviously going into Happy Valley was a good indication that this team isn't going to be competing with elite level FBS programs anytime soon.

Fast forward a week and you would have expected a lot more against a team like Butler, but they came out flat and let them hang in for far too long.

This is a wakeup call for this team now. Next week is a winnable game against a BCS school, but it's going to take an exceptional game to do pull out the result.

I think the team should have a good idea of where they stand after two weeks and after this performance, if they're not ready to go next week, we'll know this team has some serious issues as they move into the conference schedule.
 
I would like to say that our offense looked really good, but then look at all of the turnovers. I'd like to say our special teams was outstanding with Riston's returns, but then look at the onside kick we gave up at the end of the game. I'd like to say our defense looked awesome in the third quarter but then look at all of the yards and touchdowns it allowed to a sub-FCS school offense in the first, second and fourth quarters.

I know we need to keep some perspective. (I'm a Colts fan and I've been harping about that on a Colts forum where everyone is freaked out about Manning. I'm not freaked out because I have a decade of the Colts losing and two decades of the Sycamores struggling for experience. I know we shouldn't take winning for granted.) But this was a disappointing performance. None of us want to see this team regress and for today at least, we regressed.
