Eastern Illinois will be coming in off of a 31-6 victory over Illinois State. They are a very, very solid team and have some talented kids on that team. They usually do well with picking up major college transfers and this year is no different. Hopefully we can get some points on the board and let our defense wreak some havoc.

EIU might be the toughest team we face this season, next to UNI. Hope the team is ready and the offense continues to show progress. We have to start scoring points to have a chance at a victory.

I'm afraid this one has the potential to get ugly... If we play with the same amount of energy as we did against the Ville we should give them a good battle. I would be really happy if this team played as hard as they did last night for the rest of the season, even if they don't win the game at least they played hard. If they would have played that hard against Q they would have beat them by 30. That's why what happened last Thursday was unacceptable and I don't think that anyone in here over reacted with their assessment of what they saw.

I don't know if the Quincy loss was about effort. Maybe more nerves and first game jitters, and the defense being exhausted late in the game. Execution was certainly a factor and that's more mental than it is heart.

Sycamores 24
Panthers 14

I dont believe in moral victories, but only losing to Louisville by 20 is pretty impressive. I think this is the confidience the team needs. Only losing by 20 to a Big East team will help them for saturdays game.

This game will detrime how the rest of the season goes for our Trees. So far we have played two rollar coaster games. After the first loss we felt like we may not ever when a game again and after last nite we are feeling better about our chances. I don't think our young guys will have that "eyes in the headlights" factor facing a good team like EIU after going into a Big East stadium and hanging with some of the "big boys". If we play them tight or are even able to pull of a shocker then we have a chance to get a few W's this season...if we don't show up and get ran out of Memorial then it could be another winless season. Huge game and hopefuly we have another great crowd because you know EIU will have a large fan base there. Show up and support the guys!!!

It is obvious that the O-Line is struggling and when your O-line struggles it limits how much of your playbook that is usable. Stutz was supposed to be a passing quarterback but if we can not protect him and he has limited running ability then it will be difficult to pass the ball very deep. But draw plays, screen passes, quick slants and quick sideline passes should always be there. The best defense is an offense that controls the ball and therefore the clock.

Who all will be there Saturday? A buddy of mine and my 12yr old son will be there...would love to meet up before game.

I will be there on the southwest side of stadium, white tent right off the parking lot. I imagine NewSycamoreFan will be back to join us and I am not sure about Country. Feel free to join the party.

I have to work so I'll be looking forward to seeing everyone at the next home game. I'll be glued to ESPN radio and cheering them on for sure. :sycamores:

this is DREADFUL, 14-0 after less than 6 min. into the game. And to think this team played Louisville last week and was leading 7-3 after the first quarter and a half. Unreal.

Yeah, it's rough. We're still quite a bit away in terms of overall talent. We need gamebreakers badly.

I fail to see why ISU continues to run the ball?? I mean, it's like there is no offensive line at all for ISU, the EIU defensive line is getting thru as though noone is there.

I swear, if ISU could score, score ANYTHING, they'd be right in this, the defense is really impressive.
