There is a lot of new functionality now that we've upgraded to a forum package from this century. For example, if you have alerts set, I believe you can actually get alerts in your browser if you've got it turned on.
Another thing that is new is tagging users directly using @username -- ie, @Jason Svoboda and it will alert the user.
As I mentioned in another thread, the user settings are much more robust. You will get more notifications and emails if you don't turn those off so please make sure you have 1) your correct email address on file and/or 2) turn them off. If I started to get a ton of bounced email notices, I'll be suspending accounts until a working email address is in place.
If you click on What's New, it will show you the latest posts. But once you get there, there is a sub menu with a News Feed option. If you "follow" members on the site, you'll see updates specially from them there. So this can be a way to filter out some people for those of you that have personal issues with one another.
The Trending page is exactly as it sounds. It takes into account the number of replies, views and reaction score to calculate. Items listed have had to had at least one new post within the last 30 days to qualify.
