The Sycamores played their most complete game of the season today and they did it without Lathan and without Kelly. Is anyone not impressed with that? Once again the Sycamores turn the ball over far to often, it's amazing to me how poorly we handle the rock! That won't work vs. WSU on Wednesday. On a good note, we rebounded the ball exceptionally well tonight, AC crashes the boards SO hard! The Sycamores also really pushed the ball down the floor off missed shots today, I think that was a big emphasis by the coaching staff for today's game and props to them for that, it might have been the difference in the game! Because if so I am willing to make a pretty good argument as to why you should be impressed! Here is my breakdown, as always feel free to give your own analysis or debate mine!

AC: I want to start by talking about AC, because this kid has done a complete 180 from last season in my mind. AC did a great job rebounding the ball and getting in the lane today. He didn't shoot the ball quite as well as he had been shooting it, but he still was a HUGE lift off the bench. I really can't say enough about how well he has played this season. AC I am sorry for the HATE this off season, keep up the exceptional play!

JP: Had a big 3 pointer to end the half and ended the game 4 of 6 from the 3 point line. I would be happy with that kind of shooting every game of the season. He really creates a problem for the opponent in the sense that they have to know where he is on the floor. He turned the ball over a couple times and that's really uncharacteristic. Other than that he did a darn good job again today! On a side note: did anyone see Josh Crawford knock JP down after that buzzer beater at the end of the half? It was pretty funny, the guys were all laughing coming off the floor... It showed in the second half as they were playing really loose.

Harry: 5 rbs. 6 asst. 2 stl. and 19 points - that's playing a pretty complete game. As always with Harry he is OOC (out of control) sometimes, but he played his best game of the year today. 6 of 10 shooting and 2 of 3 from long range, that's pretty tough!

Reed: Didn't shoot the ball exceptionally well, he really takes some tough shots at times and he is not much of a threat off the bounce. He did have 6 rebounds, helping the Sycamores to a plus 6 rebounding advantage against one of the best rebounding teams in the Valley. If you would have told me minus Lathan and Kelly that the Sycs would out rebound anyone by more than 5 I would have said you was crazy :krazy:

Josh: I actually thought he played a pretty decent game today, he missed some bunnies inside but I tell you what he played hard and he had a couple nice blocks and he ended up with about 5 or 6 rebounds - I will take that any day out of our big men.

Brant: Only played 11 minutes and ended up with 0 points and 3 rebounds - I don't need to go around bashing Brant at this point, everyone knows what you are going to get with Brant at this point in the season. He has his moments, other than that I like the Martin/Crawfrod combo much better.

Martin: Well he did have 2 blocked shots (edited from shits) but he didn't grab a rebound, another reason it's amazing that we had a plus 6 on the rebounding. He played more than any of the bigs but he was really quiet today, didn't even know he was on the floor much of the game.

Richard: 6 points and 5 rebounds, I told you this guy plays better on the road than he does at home. He didn't shoot the ball all that well tonight. I really think this kid needs to step his game up, I have really not been that impressed with his play so far this season. He is such a mild mannered kid, I just wish he would bang on someone!

Koang: Hope he is alright, looked like he hurt his ankle early on in the game and attempted to give it a go in the second half but it wasn't working for him. I really like his ability to step out and shoot the 3 and his length. I see RJ in a similar role to that of Koang this season, both are big guys who can step out and shoot it, although Koang is more athletic and quicker than RJ - he makes up for it with his hight and his ability to stroke the 3.

Dammed if you do and dammed if you don't on this forum. If I don't post my thoughts on the game then their is nothing to talk about here besides attendance or why people can't just be positive all the time and so I take the time to post what I did and you all comment on a typo from all of that? The "i" is next to the "o" and the word "shits" was spelled correctly! lol

Just joking around, Morgan! If it makes you feel any better, I agree with all you said. Syc's looked great in TV land in Indy.

Good summary, Morgan. I must be getting old because I could make a list of items that I think we are weak at but we still compete pretty well. Overall, we just seem shakey handling and passing the ball.
Did you notice how we were just jumping over UE for rebounds? They look pretty weak athletically.
I think it IS impressive to win that easily without Kelly and Lathan. KD sure was rebounding today.
I think CR has the quickness and hops to get a 5-12 ft shot off about anytime he wants. he just needs to work on his shot. If he would improve his shooting the next two years the way Harry has, he will be tough.
We just cannot get any scoring or rebounding out of our centers.
Next year, we need to improve our inside game and our ballhandling/passing, and we will.

Ryan's a good player. He's going to be tough to stop the next 4 years.

I have to agree with Morgan that we played much looser in the second half. When I was watching it, there was a point around the 10 minute mark in the second half where AC (I think it was him) hit a 3 and we went on a quick spurt where we hit several 3's in a row and broke it wide open. We seemed to make the majority of our ball handling errors during the first five minutes of the game, and many of the ones we made in the second half were done because we were pushing the ball and committed offensive fouls. I also thought our full court press looked pretty decent, although we did struggle to get back on defense after they got it past the double team a couple of times. Was nice to see us mix it up so much.

gotta love the kid right????????

I saw Josh knock over JP and it was the funniest thing ever - even McKenna was laughing!

I saw KMac laughing but the entire bench was doing the same Poor Josh how much crap do you think he will get for that from his teammates LOL. I thought it was one of the best parts of the gameLOL

I tell you what given all the injures and suspensions that have happened this year the coaching staff has done a hell of a job. This team plays so much better when tehy are on the run and shooting the rock - they came out in the second half playing like this vs. Bradley and they played the entire game today with the same demeanor.

The press wasn't too bad...it did force the tempo on UE, but we've gotta learn to master the sideline TRAP. There's no reason in the world NOT to either get a turnover, timeout or steal when the opponet is trapped in the backcourt along the sideline. For some reason, we always let 'em slither thru. It happened on a couple occasions Sunday.
