Well we are back to .500, again! Hopefully this time we can work are way above .500, looking ahead to Purdue that could be a difficult task. The Sycamores played well once again at home this afternoon - slow start but once they got going, they got going! If they start that passive against Purdue we will be down 10 or 15 quick. Have to come out firing, but this was a good warm up game for the Sycamores.

Kelly - Played a pretty good game, still doesn't finish very well in the lane. With that being said he did have a big dunk today! He also played some pretty good D - his length causes problems for shorter guards.

Lathan - Has been scoring the ball pretty well all season and surprisingly looks to be our best shooter so far this season. Still makes some dumb decisions, like when Oakland inbounded the ball and threw it out of bounce but he went and touched the ball? Let it go braaa, you can't dunk it from out-a-bounce.

Odum - Continues to impress, 5 assists and only 1 turnover today. Hit a couple 3 pointers and appears to have worked on his jumper in the red-shirt season. Great save to start a fast break that ended with a Kelly dunk!

Koang - Had a nice game today, shot the ball pretty well and did some nice things around the basket. We need him to step up for sure at Purdue!

Carter - Played pretty well and seems to have turned the corner from a rough start to the season.

RJ - Got plenty of PT today and palyed well. Still not sure why they try to play him on 5s? He can't guard a 5 and if you are going to do that at least try and create a mis-match on the other end and pull them away from the hoop, if they wont come out and guard him let him fire it. For whatever reason they throw it into him with his back to the basket? lol

Walker - I don't think he wanted to hurt any of those little guys on the floor for Oakland... Not his type of game, he's a physical player and will have his hands full vs. Johnson.

Martin - and we keep waiting... He seems to have packed his bags on this season already. He will continue to play limited minutes the rest of the season.

Eitles - Thought they both played pretty well. They really do pass the ball and see the floor well don't they? I think they will continue to get better.

McWorther - Made a few threes late, other than that not really impressed with his play. I understand he's just playing his role and will be a backup to Odum throughout his career. He's a good bench guy (not knocking him) but probably wont figure into the starting line-up. Awfully early to make that kind of judgement so we will see.

Did I miss anyone? I don't think so, but maybe... It was good to have a relaxing game again at home after what has been a brutal non-conference schedule to this point in the season. Brutal in the sense that the Sycamores has shown flashes of being a very good team and shown flashes of being a very poor team. If these last 2 games are any indication - the Sycamores have turned the corner. The true test will be vs. Purdue! Can't wait for that game - hope many of you get to go!

BOOM!

I thought Mc did fine also. You can see the ability and knowledge of how to play the game in the twins too.

Martin is now officially at the bottom. Too bad. Some wasted talent there but we've seen players like that before.

Hey TB. do you know how Jarvis is doing?

Perfectly stated...if RJ is 3 Pt, and outside shooting threat, then why in the world is he assigned to play Center? He needs to be the guy trailing the play, so that they can throw the ball back out to him to shoot it from 25+ feet...much like what Butler used to do with Pete Campbell. If he's a shooter, let the boy shoot!!! He can't do with his back to the basket.

isn't it out of bounds braaa?

Does it matter? What if I woulda said outta-bounce or outta-bounds or out-a-bounds would that have sufficed or would have you have corrected me? It's hard to sense sarcasm online, so if you were just giving me a hard time my bad. It's all about the pronunciation of the word, it comes out quicker to say, "that's out of bounce" than "that's out of bounds" the "d" in "bounds" does not roll off my tongue quick enough when bitching at the refs while coaching at the boys and girls club.

Either way does it really mater? lol

It boggles my mind that people keep saying that. If we don't play RJ at 5, who is our backup center? If RJ plays 4, where do Richard and Doluony play. You people need to think a little bit.

RJ can't defend a good 5 in the MVC, I'm sorry that creates a major mismatch. He is simply not physical enough to do that - it's never been his game either. So I am not knocking him and to my point if you are going to play him at the 5 you have to try to beat that mismatch on the other end and posting him up with his back to the basket doesn't do that. They HAVE to spread the floor and pull the 5 out away from the basket, because other teams are going to exploit that mismatch on the other side of the floor?

Carl can guard a 5 better than RJ can guard a 5.

He needs to watch some JAY TUNNELL film...

Recall how Waltman (1) & K-Mac (2 yrs) tried to use him low post. After both back & knee injuries, he finally was given the freedom to roam the perimeter and

BOOOM!

Man I thought McWhorter looked real good today. He also maybe our best defender.

I don't know about real good - I think he does some good things. He takes care of the ball pretty well and he seems to shoot the ball decently. I don't think he is a better defender than Jake Odum or Jake Kelly, do you? Maybe on the ball defender, but not off the ball. Jake Odum anticipates as well as anyone on our team.

I didn't mean to knock McWhorter if that's what I did, I was just saying that I don't really see him starting. You have to figure that he is the same year as Odum and his size does not lend him to playing anything other than PG. Jake Odum pretty much has that locked up at this point. His play has been very solid for a freshman.

Hey TB. do you know how Jarvis is doing?

Someone was talking about him on Friday at the North game. They said he's scoring like 14 a game, 5-6 rbs, 2 steals a game and shooting like 50% from 3. I haven't personally looked up his stats.

I just went and looked them up. 13 pts, 6rbs, 2 stls, and 40% from 3. Looks like he's going to play himself into a D-1 scholarship.

When he's playing the 5, he would be more like a "Tunnell" 5 than a Walker 5. But he has to be our backup 5. He doesn't have to post up, but I think he can. Sorry, I just don't see how RJ could guard a 4 better than a 5.
It will be interesting next year. I wonder if we could move Lathan to 2 and Richard to 3. That would open up the 4 for RJ and Gant.

I watched him in top 40/all-star games. His shot didn't look good but I liked the way he was playing team ball. I wonder if he'd be good enough for us in 2 years?
