And consider that Atlanta is an international city (the Olympics), great city, FBS football...Miles is making ISU proud (let's remember he's an alum).

And one things for absolutely sure - if GSU does well, and wins a bowl game in the coming years - Miles will be on his way to one of the Big Six conferences as a head coach, guaranteed.

He should now be donating to his alma mater. Say take one of the bonuses for winning conference or a bowl game. That would help.

The remaining details of the contract related to on-the-field performance:

•$1,000 bonus for every victory in years 2013 and ’14;
•$5,000 bonus for each winning season;

In all years, he is eligible to receive:

• $25,000 bonus if the football team finishes in the top three of the conference;

• $25,000 bonus if the football team is bowl eligible (minimum of six wins);

• $50,000 bonus if the teams win the Sun Belt Conference championship, or the championship of the conference it is in;

• $25,000 bonus if the team plays in a bowl game;

----------------------------------------------------------
Does the "Cereal Bowl" & "Douche Bowl" count? Sunbelt Conference Championship...LOL...a notch above (?) the MVC. Boy, the $$$ must flow easily since Sherman rode thru town.

He actually said in one of his interviews that he will remian a donor of the program.

Some folks act like this was a selfish move on his party and yadda yadda yadda.

He is a college football coach - he has moved all over the country as an assistant coach. Indiana State was his very first head coach job - a better oppertunity came up for he and his family.

Simple as that and as a business man, I can respect that. Gotta do what you gotta do.

Also might add - bonus heavy contracts are pretty common in college athletics. Obviously we can't offer as lucrative of bonuses - but we still have them built into coaching contracts.

For instance if one of Coach McNichols Track or XC athletes win a national title he gets a bonus - not sure how much it is or what the exact details of it are.

I'm sure Coach Miles will always be grateful for the opportunity he got at ISU.He invested a lot of years as an assistant before he came here and that has paid dividends with his latest position.From what I've heard,Atlanta is a great place to live and raise a family.Moneywise his quality of life may not be much higher than in Terre Haute but if he does well at GSU the job offers will come again.I think the challenge of building another program is very important to coach and I wish him well..

My comment about donating was tongue-in-cheek. I know he has donated and will continue to do so. I also know that, with a young family and 4 children (which I also have), he is doing what's right for him and his family. Now, as far as Atlanta being a great place to live? The weather's nice, and it is a nice city, but have you driven around in the city or had to fly in and out of it?--that part you can have (and I drive in and fly in and out of the airports in Chicago).

Well it's very diffcult to sense tongue-in-cheek on a message board unless you personally know the person.

My response about people being unsupportive wasn't directed at anyone personally - just a broad statement.

Here's an incentive clause: The guy from Wisconsin is probably getting $4M per year for taking the Arkansas job.

Trent also gets academic bonuses ... .It is interesting that he gets an additional $15,000 if no student on the team violates the student code of conduct

Well, ISU has twice given him a career boost in football, first as a player and now as a coach. Seems like most fans wants to concentrate on how much ISU owes him, but I think that's largely backwards thinking. Yes, we appreciate how he turned the program around, but Miles should be thankful for the opportunities he's had as a Sycamore.
