Wichita State gets AAC invite?

Doesn't bother me one bit the only reason this league is a two bid league is when Wichita State loses in St. Louis. Good riddance.

Is it only Elgin's call?

Either they stay and participate in all sports the MVC sanctions; IF they leave, they are IMMEDIATELY ineligible for Conference Titles AND the Conference At-Large bids.
Would imagine member school Presidents would be in on the decision, too.

Believe every school would have a vote.

From a purely pragmatic side -- why WOULD the Valley allow them to stay if they receive an AAC invite?

I know some of the their non-revenue/olympic sports have success on an annual basis but if they want to play ACC MBB, then they need to find a new hope for ALL sports.

I would love for the Shockers to stay in the conference but if they're gonna go just go already.

The article doesn't leave much of a positive taste for the quality of MVC basketball...but recently, it's been virtually a cakewalk for the Shox to get an NCAA bid.

If I am Elgin, you take any sport, you take it all. I am tired of the hodge podge make up of the conference. You are either in or out.

Agree with this. Dallas Baptist should either get in or out. It's OK with me if the Valley and the MVFC merge and members are either in completely or gone.

Question is, does Elgin let WSU stay in The Valley without basketball?

I read the story when they say bring just "basketball" - they mean they would be adding them to the conference for all sports except football. I think WSU would either want to be all in or all out.

How about a show of hands of those on here who have been to Arch Madness for the last five years like me? It's this simple, after losing Creighton, if Wichita State leaves, Arch Madness is over. Even with WSU's four loss season, WSU has a great crowd here, but it's not the crowd they've had in past years. If WSU leaves, Arch Madness may last a year or two, but it won't be sustainable (affordable) for the league to pay for it. The 34 Loyola fans who came, the 123 Indiana State fans, the 62 Drake fans is not enough fans to pay for the water in the toilets at Scott Trade.

I don't know why we have a conference tournament anyway. That is one of the current fads I don't care for. They were probably started by the power conferences for TV and money.
Maybe we could be innovative and have a tournament in the middle of the season.
