Not a lot of separation between 4 and 6. Right where I figured they'd be. As I said, I can't see how two teams that we destroyed last year are ahead of us. Guess we couldn't get any better than we were last year. Damn, it's sad to hit your ceiling so soon...:krazy:

We'll just have to prove it on the field!

ITF, that's what I thought...if Youngstown was in front of us, I could live with it because it would make sense of why they would predict them in front of us. Illinois State and South Dakota State, one plays no defense at all in anyway shape and form, the other lost a majority of its offense.

Even though I think it's an insult based on last year's performance and this year's returning players....I voted Useless.

Let's face it. If we were picked FOURTH, not too many of us would have been surprised or even disappointed. The difference between 4th and 6th was ONLY four points. I wouldn't let this get under your skin but I am relatively sure that it bothers most on here. My reaction was basically so what?

They prognosticators have NEVER been kind to us nor do I think that will ever change. I'd say that we all take Prozac and sit back and see how fast we get up to speed. If we get off to a fast start--we should easily be 3rd or even higher, but if we lose a few that we should have won, 6th place is also possbile.

Use it as motivation. Remember the hoops team was not too well rated by the same prognosticators.I say prove it on the turf.

What really boiled my blood was the obvious leaving off of Hilton and putting ILSU's receiver on there instead. That was really an obvious snub to me even though statistically speaking Hilton probably wasnt the best receiver in the league last year.

You know, if you look at positions 4,5,6 they are only seperated by 4 points total. I'd say this could have easily swung us up to 4th. Either way, this is nothing more than fuel for the team to out perform to their best ability and stake thair claim to the MVFC title.

pre season pole

what was i s u pre season ranked in the valley last year?and did that mean anything.i would say no.same thing this year , who cares , lets play football.but it does give us something to talk about.

I think it is great. Let them over-look us again. Let the Sycamores prove them wrong where it counts, on the field.

A couple of notches lower than I expected but that's why the games aren't played on paper. You have to show up EVERY WEEK! Look at the picks to win the league year after year..........don't see any prophets there either.

Fact is we didn't fair too well on the road last year...that's probably why we're down a few spots than we should be. I think this group is mature enough now to get a few good road wins and will finish up closer to the top...

So what, basketball was picked 7th last year and went dancing I say let's do the same thing in football. The only standings that matter is the final one.

I voted who cares. I'll care about the post-season polls. The recognition is nice, and I suppose the players like the reinforcement of the hard work they've put in, but at the end of the day the results on the field are all that matters. I know the kids received a call this morning from a coach, and the preseason poll was one of the items discussed--it can be a nice chip to start the fall camp with.

That's good to know. It bugs me mostly because I think the kids need a little bit more of an obvious fair shake from the valley on that...I know at the end of the road it's more important but it would be nice for them to get some better recognition.
Good luck to your son, it's gonna be hot as hades. Hydrate hydrate hydrate.

I also voted for who cares. It's just a preseason poll. No games have been played yet so no one knows how we will fair this season. We will never get respect from the Valley until we prove we can win consistently and I don't know if that will even help any. All we can do is perform on the field and prove the pollsters wrong again this season.
