I do not think that that site is accurate...he doesn't have the latest tie breaker rules in place. He puts Net second. I assure you it is not.

Sorry for filling this up....but. I think there is one scenario where we have a 3 way tie for first and we get the 1 seed

So I was wrong...we can only get #1 if we are outright first. We lose all tie breakers. I thought a tie with SIU and Drake might do it...but SIU comes out ahead in that one...with us 2nd.

We lose tie breakers to Drake, Bradley and SIU. But not worried about the #1 seed because a tie for first still gives a shared regular season title. I'm going to say if we go at least 2-1 with one of the Wins being Belmont we will be a Top 4 seed.

Let’s say we end up in a tie for first, but don’t get the #1 seed. Do we still hang a “MVC Champions” banner? What say you?

Okay, one more time and hold the eye rolls...
We win out (15-5), Drake loses vs Belmont but wins others (15-5), Belmont loses to us but wins others (14-6), Bradley loses to SIU and Drake (14-6), SIU beats Bradley and loses at least 2 of last 3 (13-7). We win that tie breaker with Drake. Head to head split. Belmont was 2-0 vs Bradley so we compare records vs Belmont: ISU 1-0, Drake 1-1. ISU is 1 seed, Drake 2, Belmont 3, Bradley 4

In my defense, we did have a banner that identified us (women's basketball, I believe) as "Co-Champions" for many years in HC. I never understood that... :ROFLMAO:
Sounds like an Indiana State thing, I wouldn't be completely shocked to see "conference co-champions with #3 seed at Arch Madness".

I kid I kid....kind of

"Compare each tied team’s winning percentage against the team (or winning percentage against a pool of tied teams) occupying the highest position in the final regular-season standings, and then continuing down through the standings until one team gains an advantage. In this scenario, for example, 2-0 and 1-0 would be the same (1.000), as would 0-1 and 0-2 (.000). Notably, each team’s winning percentage against a pool of tied teams shall be used (prior to breaking that group’s tie), rather than the record against any individual tied team. The lone exception would be if there only two tied teams in such a pool and one team went 2-0 against the other. In that instance, that tie is deemed broken and comparison of seed rather than a team’s winning percentage against the pool of tied teams shall be used."

This is what it says after head to head and not tied with 3 or more teams. So in your scenario I think we would lose the tie breaker because Drake went 2-0 (100%) vs Bradley and we went 0-1 (0%) if Bradley is the 3 seed. If Belmont is the 3 seed then we win because they would be 1-1 (50%) vs Belmont and we would be 1-0 (100%). If I'm wrong then I'm about as confused as anyone lol

Belmont would be the 3 in that scenario as the special case is invoked since they would be in a 2 way tie for 3rd with a 2-0 record against the other team. (Very last of tie breaker c) Bradley loses tie breakers to Belmont so we want them tied with Belmont and only Belmont.

This applies to a 2 way tie with Belmont Bradley. If SIU were in there then the special case is not invoked and Drake gets tiebreaker.

Gotta love all this calculating and analysis going on across all the threads of Sycamore Pride. I know these types of things are the latest rage in all sports. Great effort and many of these can be enlightening. But I still think the "eye test" reigns supreme. Watch the game, pay attention, and you'll probably be able to spot whose playing well -- not just scoring wise.
Kinda the same thing here with trying to figure out how all the standings will work out. When you're just looking at a couple teams in the final games of a season such discussion can be meaningful. But with 4 different teams, each with 4 games left, virtual identical records, and many factors from much earlier in the season at play ---- well don't really see the point in a "what do we have to do" discussion.
Real simple answer is for ISU to win its last four games. Its obvious we are as good as anybody in the league (Belmont's not shown to tower above anyone). Just win the remaining games, can't do anything else anyway.
Just win Baby !!!

If we play Saturday like we played last night we will be lucky to get a W. If we play Belmont like we played last night they will blow us out.
