The list they will work off (in the future)?

Or

The list they are currently working off of?

(I'm not asking for names, just wanting clarification of "when" they're working off of a list)
It's Indiana State! About as proactive as they will be is talking to Graves in the hallway of the arena as they walk to their cars at 5:00

While we know shit hasn't been good, we really need to quit with this. Almost everyone involved with previous processes are now gone except the Board of Trustees. Hopefully this run has them thinking differently, too.

The SLU poster, given he outed Kyle Bowlsby, is probably right that the search firm reached out to Cuonzo Martin and Bart Lundy. That doesn’t yet mean ISU is considering them finalists to hire - just that the search firm likes them.

That and he’s just kind of average. 264-198 in his career

Gotcha. I'm not going to hold Mizzou against him. Bad job and he had it working, lost his best player to the NBA and then once his good recruiting classes became upperclassmen, COVID hit and derailed him.

His style of play would be my only cause of concern. I think he would recruit like gangbusters here and because he was given raw deals, he may even be apt to stay for the longer term.

You’re probably right. I’m just fearful of going back to grind it out, first one to 60 wins. Now I say that without really remembering how his teams played.

No, that's definitely a legit concern.

I'm terrified of going back to the traditional MVC style.

Style point notwithstanding; any program should leap at the opportunity to hire a high character coach like Martin

And his backstory is as/more inspiring than that of HCJS

The Valley is lucky to have him back, regardless of his system on the court

One of the biggest things through all this is ISU/the donors using money smart when we go to hire a new coach.

We've raised a bunch of money to keep HCJS. If he leaves, ideally that money still exists...but who knows. But also that money would be massively useful to the NIL fund at the same time...if it still exists.

If we can get a nearly ideal candidate for $600k instead of the perfect coach for $900k...but that means the NIL fund gets an extra $300k...that probably goes a lot further.

Ben McCollum
Bucky McMillan
Preston Spradlin

We would definitely have to pay up for one of these 3 though. I also don’t know what McMillan makes.
Love this list! McCollum will likely interview with Drake in the coming days. Time will tell if this NIT run screwed us out of a potential great hire or not…

I don't care how the system is set up, it's not the wrong decision to keep playing (and winning) basketball.

The best people out there know to wait to see everything that might open up.

Players (current and former) are on a social media campaign for them to keep Marty Richter.

Would John Beilein want to coach at a smaller conference? He's 71 but there were reports he wanted the IU job a couple years ago.

Was doing some reason on other MM/HM boards and here were some names mentioned that I don't think I've posted yet in here:

Carlin Hartman, Florida Associate Head Coach

Apparently was a finalist for the Buffalo job a couple years ago. He has been linked to several openings this cycle.

Ali Farokhmanesh, Colorado State Assistant

Of UNI fame and is now being linked to a couple LM/MM jobs now that Colorado State is done.

Adam Cohen, Xavier Associate Head Coach

Highly regarded across multiple phases -- recruiting, development and Xs & Os.
