Add me to the elderly crowd. Gordon Stauffer. Not a great coach but had a lot off good players.

And at that time, Gordon “Slim” Chalmers was our AD. He didn’t know squat about our athletic landscape and passed up a golden opportunity to join the MAC along with Ball State and NIU. Although the MVC may be a better b-ball conference, I think the stability of the MAC overall, is better.Gordon Stauffer, he transitioned us from NCAA college division to Division 1. We also left the Indiana conference with St. Joe, DePauw, Evansville, BSU, Butler, etc. and formed the short-lived Midwestern Conference with BSU, Illinois State, Northern Illinois and SIU.
Hindsight is always 20/20, but we definitely should have joined the MAC with Ball State (if that was an option). And at that time, Gordon “Slim” Chalmers was our AD. Leaving behind our biggest rival was a dumb move. Instead we joined a league at the time that stretched all the way out to the Texas panhandle and into New Mexico. Now we're stuck in a league with no true rivalries and with Horizon League caliber programs like Evansville, Valpo, and the Flamers; and viewed as third tier to Testicle Tech.the Univ President had little interest in the MAC with ISU_Muncee and the Trees STILL don't have the $$$ to sponsor FBS football

Rankin could care less about our conference affiliation. He relied on the recommendation of his AD.Take it up with ol' Doc Rankin -- I'm sure he'll welcome your input

Chalmers was the culprit that kept us out of the MAC.
My logic is simple. See if you can understand this? Curtis is bad for ISU! Rankin wasn’t.Let me see if I understand your "logic..." you've been quick to assign truckloads of blame to Dr. Curtis for destroying ISU BUT you're giving a pass to Dr. Rankin not pursuing MAC membership? Which is it with you -- the UNIV PRES is charge of all OR the AD?
