Why doesn't ISU have a walk into the stadium like other schools, where fans line the entrance with the band and they welcome the team to the stadium?

I would have to assume the main issue is distance. In most cases the stadium is on campus. So, like at ND, they walk from one building (church) to another (stadium or podium or whatever). At ISU, they would have to walk from campus...2.5 miles to the stadium.
I see what you are saying but logistically it isn't exactly an easy thing to do.

I understand the distance thing from campus. But can't they just pull the team up on a bus on Wabash and have the team walk up the stadium and head to the locker room. I have schools do this also. I think it would be really cool for ISU to do something like this. It really adds to the atmosphere, IMO.

Not a bad idea, but one needs to know what time the team arrives at Memorial Stadium and what time the fans start to tailgate. Might be very few fans at MS at the time. Now, when we get a new stadium finished across Rt. 41, that would be a great walk with the band and cheerleaders!

If I'm not mistaken they do walk in together under the arch about two or three hours before games. At least we did up until a few seasons ago

Most of the players drive themselves to the games, and are there well before most (other that Tailgatin' Tom) of the fans show up. I like the idea also, but the logistics just don't seem to work on game days at Memorial Stadium. What about doing something similar on a Friday night pep rally on campus?
How about a bronzed Sycamore stump right outside of the lockerroom that they could rub and come out to. I believe Clemson does something similar (think it's called Howard's Rock?) and I know this has been mentioned in the past here.
If ISU had a bus that they could do that...sure. But no bus!
As for more pagentry prior to the game, I am all for that. There are a great deal of ideas and thoughts out there on this topic, anything would be better than what happens. I still like what Cocky does at South Carolina prior to the game with 2001 Space Odessey music and then the team runs out...its is AWESOME!

Like Notre Dame hits the sign above the locker room door while leaving the locker room. Whatever happened to the inflatable helmet they used to have outside the locker room?

They still have that I thought...but that isn't "tradition" in the sense that hitting the sign, or a stump or rock or whatever. Its a "bounce house" type of thing. I think what we are talking about is creating a fun, fan involved, tradition that would "fire" up the players and fans alike. Are we not?

ISU has buses actually, that they use for trips that aren't that far, like to EIU or IU. They are usually parked on campus by the softball field and track. I'm not sure if they still have them, but I know they used to.
My favorite entrance is at Virginia Tech. ENTER SANDMAN!
If you haven't, find a video. I'm sure something is on Youtube. I don't have YT access at work, or I'd find a video.
Don't they just use Turner Coaches?

They do, but they also have buses that are like smaller versions of a Turner bus but they are owned by ISU. They use them to transport students from campus to football games at MS. When you walk out of MS after a game, you can see the buses sitting outside waiting for the students.
Yes, they still use Turner Coaches....
But Turner Coaches would CHARGE them an arm and a leg for using them. ISU got socked this spring when Turner busses took the team to Rose-Hulman. No freebies.
Now I know that First National Bank used to have those motor homes that they would let non-profit organizations use. We used them at ISU to transport sports teams around on long trips out of state (baseball used them a lot).

They do have the piece of the Sycamore Tree in the locker room that the plays tap before going out on the field. They used to have a big ole log from a Sycamore Tree that former ISU assistant coach Dan Ritter fixed up for them.
There was talk of a blow up tunnel for this fall, but I don't know how that went.

and they would fire it off before the game, after ISU touchdowns and after a win. But the neighbors complained about the noise (some woman's dogs went nutty when they would blow off the cannon).
We used to get calls in the press box from neighbors around Memorial Stadium when they would fire off the cannon. We would either hang up on them or ask them how long they've lived there around the stadium.
