A question on Sycamorevision......

I was at EIU game, but we had some family in the chicago area subscribe to SV. They had same exact problems that Svoboda had with the buffering, do they refund partial etc? I think they subscribed for 4 months, and they arent happy right now, couldnt find a contact number for them to call.

any ideas?

I contacted the support for Sycamore Vision and got a "it must be your computer or Internet" form mail. The simple fact that there hasn't been someone from the University come on here and apologize for the HORSESHIT SERVICE is beyond me. Honestly, I don't even have enough expletives for it right now.

Here is the contact us link...

You might find better customer service than you'd expect...ie could very well refund the purchase. You just can't do it over the phone, have patience using the contact us page, they'll get back to you eventually.

Form letter I got back from "Joe" at JumpTV:

Greetings,

There could be a few explanations for the stuttering video. <O:p</O:p

It could be an internet connection that is unable to keep up with the stream. Go to www.speedtest.net and click on the gold pyramid and run a speed test. You will need to have a download speed that exceeds 700kb/s. If you are connecting via DSL you may want closer to 1000kb/s. <O:p</O:p

If your speed is near recommended limits and the video is skipping/buffering frequently we can increase your Windows Media Player buffer time. To do this, open WMP and press the alt key. Scroll over tools on the program menu and click options, click the performance tab, raise your buffering time from the default, to between 20 and 30. This will help some, but if your download speed is not sufficient to handle the event you may want to contact your Internet Provider for an explanation of your download speed.<O:p</O:p
<O:p
If you are connecting through a router, you may want to connect directly to the modem. Router connections can change with network activity, weaken signal strength and can reduce quality. A direct modem connection will improve those things. Once you have done this run the speed test again and see that your connection has improved. <O:p</O:p

Also close any other applications drawing network activity.<O:p</O:p

Hardware issues can be the case as well, when playing video, close all non-essential computer operations. <O:p</O:p

You can check CPU usage under the Performance Tab on the task manager, (click ctrl/alt/del), if it is over 75% then your computer may be lagging, causing intermediate internet issues.<O:p</O:p

This is usually a RAM issue. You can check your amount of RAM by clicking Start-then right click on My Computer-Click on Properties. Under the General Tab you will see information about your CPU. If you read through for RAM you will need at least 1GB for Vista and 500MB with XP. <O:p</O:p

Thank you,
<O:p</O:p<O:p</O:p

Go F&@$! yourself.

I've got a 25/5 Internet connection. I built my PC and have a Quad-Core CPU with 8 GB of RAM and 1GB on my video card. It's not my PC or Internet, douchers, just like my email said. Might as well have said "We're got your money, buzz off" -- I would have felt less insulted.

There has to be someone in AD office as a contact isnt there? Its ISU's face on this not Jump TV. My relatives up north have a similar connection Jason, and I think they thought and said the same words you have.

Hope ULM feed goes better that SV

For the amount of money involved they know your options are very limited, about the only thing that would get their attention is a class action lawsuit.

I bought the ULM video for 9.95, the video quality is good. No buffering problems.

They only have one camera, so no close ups and no slow-mo replays, but when you expand it to the full screen, the video quality is still good.

Video quality was much better than SycVision and much easier to access, pay, and get to the game without a frustrating long wait. If we thought we had attendance problems! Unless there were lots and lots on the side opposite the benches there was no one there. I will be interested to the the attendance figure.

They provided us great video quality on the big screen - 1 camera, but when you can see everything who really cares? I gave game updates from my phone watching the feed - it was perfect and the announcer wasn't bad at all. Then again he didn't have time to be as he was working solo.

A well spent 9.95 for sure.:sycamores:
