I saw the last one. No thanks.

Awesome! Why would we want to relive that nightmare? One of 5 terrible losses this season.

1. @ Boise State
2. @ Drake
3. @ Bradley
4. @ Creighton
5. @ Butler

For good measure

6. @ Southern Ill- clearly you could move this loss into the top 5, I was at this game - it wasn't as close as the score indicated.

Common theme? Yeah, a few... We were NEVER (I mean NEVER) were in any of those ball games and oh BTW they were all on the road. We sucked this season, you forgot about Boise didn't you? I didn't.

There is no such thing as a good loss young man. There can be good things taken from a loss but no good loss.

You being the optimist you are find it extremely easy to find the negative in life. For all the negatives, I can match you with positives. Maybe, that will bring you out of your funkiness.

I'll go first: We currently have 18 wins. Thats three consecutive winning seasons.
Carl is a member of an exclusive group of players with 1000 points and 700 rebounds many of those we got to witness.
Lucas Eitel became a contributor in many games showing the Sycamores fans that hard work and dedication pays off. Looking forward to seeing more of that young man over the next two years.
Jordan moved into second place on the all time 3 point scoring list behind current ISU hall of famer Michael Menser. JP was an instramental part of my next item on the list.
We broke the NCAA record for three pointers made without miss. Yes, Indiana State is in the NCAA record book. Amazing feat.
Jake O put together an all around great statistical year including the first triple double since LB wore Sycamore blue.
We will play in the post season and actually have a streak of post season play.
The Old Spice Classic was great exposure for us and we were talked about highly by the broadcasters of the game. We even had the best showing on tv. There was a sea of blue in the stands.
Oh, and just for us Cub fans. We are still, as of today, not statistically out of the race for the pennant. Go Cubs!

P.S. I am holding some back for use as rebuttal.

Hahaha GiveMeHeart - I think that it's awesome that you saved something for my rebuttle, even more funny that you decided to let me know that as if wouldn't have been clear to me when you replyed. Lol

What do any of those things have to do with getting our ass handed to us on the road? I am not going to sit here and trump your positives with more negatives because contrary to popular belief I am a ver positive person in real life - this is fake life and sometimes you are unfairly portrayed.

I really just don't want to relive the beat down by a very below average Butler team - it was one of the most embarrassing losses I have ever been a part of as a Sycamore fan from birth, it was that bad.

About that time Sycamore diehards decided to throw Sycamore fans as a whole off the bus and make this about them. People acted like Sycamore fans got off the bus on our own by being upset with everything that went down inside Henkle that day. Wasn't that at all, we just held our team to a higher standard than that. So this for me, doesn't have anything to do with the positives of the season, because we certainly has some.

So call me negative but I held the Sycamores to a higher standard than losses at Bosie State, at Bradley, at Southern, at Drake (the way we lost, not so much the loss). Yes, my expectations for an experienced team with 4 seniors were too high.

Rebuttle away! Hopefully this response didn't come across as condescending to anyone, I really am going to work on that.

:wordyo:

I was pretty disappointed at the Wichita St. game. ISU played great against them twice in close losses earlier in the year. I think the order of games played should be changed so that the play in winner from the night before doesn't play in the earliest game of the day the next day. That was just too short of a turnaround.

Cubs are undefeated as of today.

You sir are in a race. You get boxed in by three of the middle of the pack runners as you try to make your way out your heel gets clipped you stumble and fall back to finish the worst race of your life. Often you reflect on what could have been but those who watched your race expecting you to win think of you as a failure. Would you concider their appraisal of you a fair one?

What about expectations for next season? Mine were still pretty high until I read Golden's article in the Tribune this a.m. and it brought back some reality. The Valley would appear to be even a tougher league next season?

I think with mangisto, khristian smith and devonte at the least we effectively replace what we lose...I think our biggest style problem is lost in Wichita...we get better I think.

I will play along, although this might be more of a personal conversation now, especially since we are talking in terms I can understand. I'm impressed with your overall understanding of track terminology.

However, if I were to get boxed in and to "fall back to the worst finish of my life" I would expect, as with anything in life, that I would learn something from my mistakes. The next race maybe I would get out a little faster to avoid congestion or maybe I would stay off the rail (all be it, that happens to be the shortest distance around the track - but you knew that) to avoid being boxed in all together. If I don't make those adjustments, not only am I a bad racer, then I have failed to produce the results that my team, family and fans were counting on - appraise all you want.

Box me in once, shame on you. Box me in twice, shame on me.

I think my appraisal of the Sycamores is fair, we lost some games and we didn't make adjustments to our game strategy (race strategy). When our coach basically says, "we are going to win or lose with this seniors and Jake", then you have totally failed to make adjustments (even worse, said publicly that you were not going to make any adjustments) and maybe had they made adjustments early on in the season then they wouldn't have gotten into that predicament in the first place. So the appraisal is only fair if you don't learn from past results.

Our biggest win of the season was a 15 point win vs. University of Louisiana-Monroe a team that was 3 and 26 this season (we beat them twice, the other time by 12). We lost by 9 at Boise State (who was 3-11 in the Mountain West this year), lost by 15 at Drake, lost by 17 at Northern Iowa, lost by 13 at Illinois State, lost by 26 at Creighton, lost by 8 at Bradley, lost by 21 at Butler and lost by 24 to Wichita State in St. Louis.

So you tell me GiveMeHeart, am I being an overly negative, condescending blowhard or am I giving a fair "appraisal" of what ACTUALLY took place this season? I often thank others on this forum for the platform to make my case and I would be remiss if I didn't thank you for this opportunity. Not only did we talk track, we talked life, we talked Sycamores, and we discussed my favorite topic of all, basketball!

Losses of 9, 15, 17, 13, 26, 8, 21 and 24 provides a pretty fair appraisal of what took place, we indeed did fail - failed to make adjustments throughout the season. When you aren't even in the ball game in over half your losses then some adjustment should have been made. I think we are probably done here, wouldn't you? PM if you want to talk running.

BOOM!

Because in running ever good runner knows, if you get boxed in then your probably not going to run a fast time, the chances of you getting tripped up increase and it takes a great deal of energy to try to "inbox" yourself.

Because of this, I didn't get boxed in...

BOOM!

Good comparison...it's like being a southpaw in fighting and constantly moving to your left against orthodox fighters...you are walking right into their power hand you do it once and say "hey that hurt, I won't do that again..."

You didn't answer my question about those that deemed you a failure. Did they make a fair appraisal? On your assessment of a fair and actual appraisal: A fair appraisal lists both the positives and negatives. You didn't give a fair appraisal of what actually took place because you dwell only in the negative. "Our seniors were bad, our coaches didn't make adjustments, our team didn't compete." With your negative losing mentality, you win. Boom

Not so sure this was "BOOM "worthy... Not very well thought out. If your going to use "BOOM" please bring the heat. Moving on now

It will be, but that doesn't mean there isn't a place for us. Also, unlike next year, in 2013-14, every team is losing important pieces except us. Next year is all about gelling, improving every week, getting eveyrone comfortable in a role with the team, staying out of the play in round, hopefully making the NIT (I'm realistic, NCAA is probably not going to happen) or a lesser tourney and making a strong run in 13-14.

The boom was sarcasm...Your Boom how ever shows your competitive nature and as I mentioned your negativity won so I appreciate the fact that you're moving on. Now, there is hope and not disdain.
