missing from the equation...

is the discussion that MBB only has 13 scholarships to use versus WBB and 15; while that delta of 2 seems insignificant, it's HUGE when considering red-shirts.

And I rarely see coaches 'pushing kids through the system,' -- if the coach doesn't want them around, the cut the scholarship and offer them the opportunity to remain as a walk-on

I think some of the 'bigs' Morgan referred to remained BECAUSE Waltman and/or McKenna appreciated what they offered/provided OFF the court.

What you say is generally true but I don't think you can say "rarely." But you are right, they usually are bigs.

Well I can think of some kids who offered/provided = as much OFF the court as those guys and produced more on the court than those guys combined and were told to pack it up and go home - we won't get into that anymore though.

It's my theory - you all stick to yours! I got my season tickets ordered today and I am pumped! So don't you all try and bring me down! ahahah Not possible!

Big difference Morgan. The guys you mentioned are bigs/post players. Those positions are at a premium around here, or any other program. The other player you are referring to who was told to pack it up was a small guard. That is a position that we have a stock pile of, and secondly is much easier for a program like ours to recruit, thus making this player expendable. It may seem like a double standard, but it is what it is.

I agree. Can't wait for the hoop season to get under way. I will have to try to make it down for a game.

You are correct -- this is the Walker thread.

Will be great to see him on the front line for the Trees -- shoot, he looks big enough to BE a tree.

I would be nice if we did not call our own players out on this board. At least wait until they have used up their four years. (Brant). Brant I wish you the best and this is going to be a breakout year for you keep working hard.:sycamores:
 
Done with this coversation... Sorry about that, hopefully I didn't offend anyone. Some people don't like to hear the truth and I can't really appreciate that. But we can move on now and get back to what this thread is all about...

Sounds like Kitchell has a lot of 'upside' -- potential red-shirt?

Love that we took him / got him over 3 in-state schools; esp. ISUM and iu's regional high school in Indy!

Myles Walker Game Stats

In the second game of the year for the defending National Junior College Champion South Plains Texans, 2010 recruit Myles Walker finished with a team high 12 points and team high 9 boards.

In South Plains' first game of the year (against a JV team) they posted a 121-33 victory.
Having just 15 minutes of action, Walker posted 6 points and 7 boards.

P.S. It has been noted on his recruiting discussion that he was a terrible FT shooter last season. While he hasn't had many opportunites yet this season, he is currently shooting 4/5 from the FT line.

Yes...encouraging to see the FT's...he's gonna have to keep on that pace to stay w/ the Sycamores who have scorched the nets so far from the FT line...41-48 so far this season...would be awesome to keep that pace.
