I spoke with Myles today and he confirmed he is going to be a Sycamore!

So do we have any scholarships left for next year or are we done recruiting for 2010?
At 6-foot-8, 250 pounds to boot. He was listed at 6-foot-7, 240 in high school. In high school under 49 seconds is very good - anyone who has that kind of speed can be considered fast! In college that would be considered average speed - but yeah I would say he has pretty good wheels. Let's just say that anyone at any age that can run a 400 under 50 seconds has first class speed.
3. If you want to get these guys through the system then you don't red shirt them. Maybe they don't view this class as a really strong class. In that case a couple of these kids might not get red shirted because they don't want them to tie up a scholie.
Does this make any sense? Why not just drop the scholarship if we don't want them?
Coaches always have the option to release a kid from their scholarship....the argument that players are not redshirted due to the feeling they will not play, therefore you want to get them through their eligibility as quickly as possible makes about as much sense as recruiting a 5'10 kid to play in the post! Now a coach may hang on to an older kid who has been loyal and hard working, but I do not see them holding onto players who have only been in the program for a year if they do not think they will ever contribute. Sounds like ISU is getting overloaded with point guards and forwards....I would like to see a legit center with offensive skills and some guys who can flat out fill it up!
I guess that has been the standard set in the past - your right, this program is more likely to do that than what I suggested. I mean it's not like I said the kids went Milton Bradley on the program - maybe they just don't develop into the players they thought they would, in that case you made your bed (not very well) so you must sleep in it. You don't get to re-make it after the fact.... Because you should have done it right the first time! I understand if a kid get's let go for "other" reasons like Rico Stinson, that is something totally different.
But anyway that was kind of just my thought process - I didn't really expect anyone on here to understand it. I was getting at the fact that if you red shirt all of those players then you will have a Freshman class the following year that will be 6 deep which potentially is a problem the year following their SR. year, I guess unless any of those 6 turn pro. But you will have to fill 6 schollerships that next year. Thus you don't red shirt this entire freshman class - because 2 of the 4 players this year are tying up money the other 2 are preferred walk ons.
Boy, Morgan, you sure butchered the word scholarships.
