Idk if I am still on the bad side of this thought but I really hope he doesn't come to state. I would rather Jalen parker than this kid. Parker is a phenomenal leader at least.

It's Packer, isn't it? He does look pretty good on a video, but I didn't know if he has a jump shot. Don't know about Pendleton's J either but his coach says he's shooting them. It might be someone that Coach thinks is improving and would be a good guard for us like Marshall.

I understand your reservations. I have similar ones about Ingram and Drew but I figure if they are very good athletes and improving you have to extrapolate to estimate what they will look like in 2-3 years.

Ingram is 6'2 and not much of a shooter, not real "into" that offer, but it may have something to do with Ronnie Johnson. As for Drew, I like his frame and think he could really turn into a really nice player.

I completely agree with all of that. Kind of what I am thinking but I think Ingram does shoot some 3's. I haven't been that impressed with his mid and short shooting. I agree with you about Drew. I like his team play and passing and he does have very good quickness and hops for his size.

I'm still working on the logistics of this offer/commitment deal. We have offered a million people, and like everybody we only have a limited number of scholarships to give. What if this guy commits and he isn't our top available player? Do we get greedy and hope the hot girl can go to the prom with us, or do we take the sure thing?

You never hear of someone committing and then not signing. With however many scholarships we have to give (let's say four), and we have offered 15-20 for 2012, what if the four weakest players on our offer list all commit? I wonder if there is not some communication between college coaches and prep players, and they only commit if they are genuinely wanted. Anybody know?

I don't know. But I assume we have offered maybe 2-3 at each position we want to fill and it's first come, first serve. So if we have offered 4 PG's (all of which we know we would want), after one commits, the other offers are withdrawn.
Does that make sense to anyone else?

Yeah it is Packer lol....Idk how I screwed that one up...Idk I have seen both play at least 10 ten times over the years...Packer makes the Chavis brothers (who don't have the highest basketball IQ) look great...He is alot like Odum imo, more of a facilitator. I just like his game overall better than pendleton. Opinions are like assholes tho, everyone has them and they all stink and mine especially smells stinky sometimes lol...

You're joking about reneging on a verbal - right?

if you have offered a scholarship to 4 players who all play the same position and number 3 calls and says he's accepting you get on the phone to number one and if that doesn't pan out you call number two and if that doesn't pan out you say welcome to the program number three all the while knowing until he signs you can still recruit over him (based on what may happen elsewhere) and pull the verbal/offer.

Very impressive. That's a loaded underclass team. No Collin Hartman (Cathedral), even on honorable mention. Interesting. I wasn't impressed when I saw him. I just figured he's better in AAU.

new coach. playing out of position. some seniors became eligible and he got pushed down in the pecking order. asked to play a role. he's got strengths and weaknesses like everyone else. holds an offer from iu and verbally commited

As someone mentioned above, I don't think you pull an offer AFTER he accepts. Don't know that I've heard of that happening. Maybe 1 or 2 in 30 yrs.

I was assuming that if you offer 3 players, you would take any of them if/when they accept. You probably have players on your B list that are offered with the understanding that X and Y must decline BEFORE they can accept.

In other words, look for us to get a committment a few days after Johnson commits to Butler.

Right. But last year he was heralded as a great freshman, then he committed to IU, and then you watch Cathedral play and you don't see him do any more than any average player that's a good shooter.

Good Grief!?

Has the Evansville Metro/SW Indiana talent fallen off that much that the 'best player' ends up at Eastern Kentucky?!

Evansville Bosse junior Jalen Pendleton (2012) has offers from Indiana St., Tennessee St. and So. Indiana; also getting football interest.

We're the best program on his 'offers from' list; some history of E'Ville kids going to Tenn St and Nashville's a much bigger town than The Haute.

Hopefully, he'll want to play in the BEST VALLEY Conference... and it isn't the Ohio or Great Lakes...
