His attitude seems to be pretty decent, nobody seems to be having a problem with it. I know he is not a Sycamore instead we brought in kids that are playing at one to two levels above their talent level. Attitudes can be altered see Brenton Scott.

Yes. BS is definitely the difference maker for this team. We need to get better players, but that's beating a dead horse. Lansing has done as well as anyone or better.

I never understand why each year we spend any time or energy discussing players who don't wear Sycamore uniforms. I get that many are dissaponted with the players we do have, but nothing is going to change that.

If the kid has a good career, fine. If he has a great career, fine. I don't really care one bit as it has no impact on the team or school I graduated from.

Maybe we should have recruited, maybe we shouldn't have. Who knows? As the saying goes, "don't look back, you're not going that way."

He looks pretty darn good tonight. Dont like spending a lot of time on spilt milk either and its pointless here 317, he aint gunna ever admit he was wrong about player evals. Not worth the time..

We have needed a 6'4-6'5 impact wing to replace Smith in the last two recruiting classes and we've failed to land it..the end result has been playing a guy in paige out of position and asking him to guard guys 3-6 inches taller than him.He should be a solid backup 2 guard this year if we had a real 3..oh well, can only hope we get one in spring or Franklin/ ojinnaka/knight magically transform into real contributors.

You are absolutely correct. Bane looked great. I compared him to Nate Green. If we didn't offer, I'm sure there was a reason. One of the major reasons was probably that he was not interested. He didn't come in for a visit, did he?
Watching a video usually doesn't give you any information about the player as a teammate or a citizen or a student.

Backer ends up on the opposite side of more arguments than me - that's a fact and I'm proud of him for that. A few points that should be made here and if you can't admit to both then you likely have a skewed perception on things.

1. I couldn't care less what this kid does in his career - pointless. The only recruiting situation that was ever worth the continued discussion (that I can recall) is the Macintosh one where a kid commits and then decommits. Otherwise - nothing to see here.

2. Based on what he has done so far clearly he could play for Indiana State attitude no matter. Things change and we will see if he can be a consistent threat for them. For his sake I hope he has a good career. Sometimes it's just better to admit that a guy has skill and probably more skill than players we are bringing on in every class and move on.

According to this thread we gave him a look and 4 Indiana schools offered him. I don't think we were one of them however.

Bane didn’t get much in-state love coming out of high school, though.

“It wasn’t until after my whole high school season,” Bane said. “They texted and a couple of calls, but never an offer or a visit.”

Golden touched on this in his Down in the Valley piece from last nights game. I thought his comments were pretty solid. It's more shocking to me that no Indiana schools took much interest in this kid - that is the bigger story than him not getting an official offer/visit from Indiana State. We talk a lot about casting a wide net - from afar it appears we've done a better job at that the last couple years - especially by landing a few Indiana players in this upcoming class. It's just unreasonable to expect us to offer every decent Indiana highschool basketball player that turns into a good college player - by numbers alone your going to have more misses than you have hits.
