beatdowns!

Not sure if it'll be easy or not; love to see a 2-3 touchdown spread.
Haven't played them since 1974, current series record is 7-25-2 in favor of buttler.

We've won the last three games; 1974 Homecoming Victory (56-27), 1973
(41-13), 1972 (49-21)

Their last victory was 1971 (14-21)

I expect we'll win in a blowout. I think many of our Indy area kids will want to look good in this one.

I agree; but games like this still make me nervous. Maybe I've spent too much of the last 50 years watching high school kids who are much less predictable.

I didn't realize Butler was FCS Division 1. With that being the case I hope they are on the radar for expansion by both the MVFC and the MVC. I imagine they would not be interested in the MVC because they pretty much have an automatic berth to the NCAA in the Horizon, but it never hurts to inquire.

They'd have to start funding a LOT of football scholies to join the MVFC...
Pioneer League (PFL) is scholie free...

I don't see them leaving the Horizon; as you say, they get an auto pass to the NCAA Dance, I believe the PFL is now in the running for a NCAA Div I-FCS Playoff bid... though it's an 'uphill climb' have to have a minimum of 7 Div I wins, with at least 2 vs teams in auto bid conferences. The team also must be ranked an avg of 16 or higher

this game will be tougher than a lot of people expect...but the trees will pull it out...hope we don't overlook them....

My biggest fear is that we lose a couple of players to injuries from the PSU game; I don't see us looking past them.

I believe we'll win by 10+ to maintain our winning streak over the puppies

At least a 40 point spread. The trees are for real....especially this year. Home opener, senior loaded, talent loaded, mission driven. This is a mature team that knows they can't take a day off.

By now we should know there are no easy wins--remember Quincy? Should be easy? Could be. Will be easy? I doubt it--these types of games can ruin how we feel about the season just as easily as they can be laughable.

I would hope we are far enough removed from the Quincy debacle...not just in time but in player/team talent. This should be a double-digit win to open the home schedule.

A non-scholarship FCS school often is not as strong as a NAIA school because, unlike Butler, Quincy and other NAIA schools does have scholarship players and less rules regarding scholastic requirements and certainly more liberal transfer requirements.

We shouldn't have short memories about where this team was the year before last. I agree that this should be a win, but I expect it will be more competitive than many people on here are suggesting. I hope I'm wrong, but I need to see another winning season before I'm completely on board. The conference schedule is going to be a bear, and as I've said many times on here, it would show real progress to go 2 out of 3 against UNI, NDSU, and SIU--that's when you know the program is competing for the playoffs.

NSF, you're dead on about the short memories. ANYTHING can happen, especially when they are trying hard to "change" the culture like we are. Nothing is a lock, nothing. Fan, I hoped you caught my snippet I wrote from Pennsylvania last weekend. I got THREE comments from Nittany Lion fans that recognized the name why wearing my Indiana State hats around Western PA. Now let me assure you that would have NEVER happened before a game with them in Happy Valley.

Sure, but I think everyone that follows realizes this is a different program even from just a 2 years ago. Games against a Butler, a Quincy and the like should now be "tune up" games to prepare for the UNIs, NDSUs and SIUs of the world.

Hell, two years ago we didn't have a 2 deep at many spots that didn't include a true freshman.
