Someone please stop the networks from putting SIU and their pathetic offense on national tv. It makes the whole league look bad.

Same pathetic offense that is propping up our in conference defensive prowess! But in all seriousness SIU and tonight are the level of defensive efforts I hope to see from here on out - that was elite.

For all the talk about SIU’s great defense, Drake shooting 55% from the field and leads by 11 at the half.

Missouri State about to win at Evansville. Aces struggling.

With the Aces best player out they are not the same. Hes been out 5 or 6 games and it shows. I think he will be back in the next two games

Feels like we gave Drake a big as boost of confidence after Belmont dusted them.
Could be. The one positive we have going for us is that Drakes schedule is about to get a lot tougher.

Right now this game at SIU is their only big win away from home. They have played at Valpo, home against Missouri State, home against Illinois State and a loss at Belmont.

They still have to play Bradley twice, at Indiana State, at Northern Iowa and against Murray State and Belmont again at home. They get to avoid going to Murray State.

Trent Brown guarding DeVries right now.

Yea that’s a winning strategy.

SIU trying to get back into it. Have cut a 20+ lead down to 12 but running out of time. Five to go.

Drake wins 76-58

We cannot lose at SIU. They just aren’t athletic enough to play with good teams. I would expect them to have trouble against us later in the year, Bradley and Murray State due to their strong guards.

Announcers making this a big win. It might be. But by the end of the season SIU might also be around 12-8 and then this isn’t as big of a win.

Drake's best performance was a 19 point win against Nevada who is now 15-2. The game was played at a "neutral" site in Henderson, NV, but I'm sure the Wolfpack have way more fans in the Las Vegas metro area than Drake does.

Just as suspected we gained a q1 win and lose yesterday with Bradley and Drake dominating. We also moved up to #30 in the NET (which would give Drake a q1 win).

Not debating just trying to understand “win and lose yesterday” part of this post??

It seems to me that we want Drake and Bradley to win every game from here on out save our games vs them, correct?

If we run the table we would win the conference our right and earn an automatic bid in the tournament.

Yeah I wanna win out too, but our metrics improving is not something you can usually say once you get in MVC play. So getting some help is nice with NCAA seeding once we win Arch Madness

Both Bradley and Drake moved into the top 75 yesterday with their wins. Meaning both of our games against them moved into the Q1 rankings instead of Q2, which they were previously. So we gained both a Q1 win and lose yesterday for what's it's worth.

I mean in an absolutely perfect world in Sycamore fandom we would go 19-1 in conference and both Bradley and Drake end the season going 17-3 and 16-4 with their only conference losses the rest of the way coming from the Sycamores and then they split the series with themselves.

The only possible Q1 opportunities that could possibly line up for the sycamores are:
Arch Madness vs. Drake: Need to be top 50. Drake is currently 64. Most likely scenario but this would probably be the championship anyways and a mute point on if we win (would help with seeding however).
Arch Madness vs. Bradley: More of a long shot than Drake but Bradley is currently 72 so there is a chance.
@Southern Illinois. Need to be top 75. They currently 99 don't think they are going to get there but there is a chance.

Looking back on it, we really need Bradley to blowout teams as they could be our only Q1 win at the end of the season.

For the Valley being historically a grinding conference where nearly anybody can beat anybody any given night there is a post on the Bradley board saying only 2 of the 34 valley games have been decided by 4 point or less or OT. Pretty crazy stat considering I think it was last year when like 80% of conference games were 5 points or fewer

Valpo up 28-20 over Redbirds at the half

Northern Iowa at Murray State just tipped off. Should be a good matchup.

Wouldn't mind UNI stealing a road win here. Murray is 4-1 and hasn't exactly played the toughest MVC schedule so far. But they are gaining some momentum and can be dangerous if they start getting on track
