Not really. It prevents a D2 or any other level team from jumping up to D1 if they know they have a good season coming then dropping back down.
A lot of people thought not paying athletes and transfer restrictions were stupid as well

It's an entirely irrelevant rule in the age when everyone rebuilds their roster every year.
Also, maybe the rules should punish punish someone that actually does the scenario you described and not preemptively punish schools that haven't done that.

SLU got beat today by Loyola in the second round of the A10 tourney and finished 19-14 in a blah season. Only post season for them will be a sub NIT level tourney. Swope was terrific, Robbie sucked and got benched at one point.
I saw an NIT bracketology yesterday with them in. They’ll probably buy their way in.
really doubt they'll make the NIT. Finished in 6th place in the A10 behind VCU, George Mason, Dayton, Loyola and Saint Josephs. Doubt if even Chaifetz has that much money.

again, st thomas - hell EVERY school knows the policy when they move up - it was designed to ensure the school wasn't getting in over their head, that they had the resources ( $$$ ) to operate at the Div I level
if st thomas didn't like it, they were free to remain as div III or div II

Watching Grand Canyon vs Utah Valley. Very high level and entertaining. Both teams come in at 25-7. Crazy neither is even near the bubble, both could pick off a P5. Also how the hell is UV rolling out a team like this?
Texas looks to get in. Many Q-1 wins, and that A&M win looks to get them over the fence in The SEC Tournament. Kind of happy for Larry especially.
