Zeke Montgomery and Darius Hannah opting out of NIT. I'm sure those boosters who shelled out about $240,000 are thrilled. What a joke

Committee still manages to troll the MVC and last year's ISU squad by matching up the transfers in the 1st four game and giving Drake an 11 seed.

I believe six teams with .500 or below conference records took at-large bids this year. Lots of teams with mediocre net rating too.

Hannah and Montgomery opting out is a bit weird.. no eligibility left and they have no chances of going pro.. so they just call it quits?

This stuff with players sitting out is pure BS. If your team plays, you play. Anything else is horse hockey. That's what you get when you let the inmates run the asylum.

Carl Richards was a no-show for the 2012 CollegeInsider.com Postseason Tournament. Always wondered the circumstances/reasoning behind his decision. It was a miserable game, lost to Robert Morris 67-60 in the HC in front of only about 2000 fans.

If I was a mid major, my would rather be in NIT. ONLY reason to want the other is if I thought I could make a serious run in the big boys tournament. Again to get to the big money you have to get to the sweet sixteen. You stand a better chance for deep run one the NIT, and the pr value is there because of the coverage you get. We got that last year.

Dispute at Ind. State- Carl Richard quits team just before their CIT game & Koang Doluony dismissed

03-14-2012, 11:02 AM

Apparently when Indiana State played Wichita State in St. Louis - there were some words between the head coach Greg Lansing and Carl Richard.
Richard jacked up a 3- point attempt right off the tipoff that air-balled....
and Lansing wasn't happy...
Things deteriorated from there with the Sycamores getting pummelled by the Shockers 72-48.

Head coach Greg Lansing said that the Sycamores had "team chemistry" issues...
..and he also booted reserve junior Koang Doluony - who is also said to be gone for good and will not return next season.

After the dispute - Carl Richards reportedly cleaned out his locker, and quit the team - right before their post-season CIT game -
his absence last night may have contributed to Indiana State losing at home to Robert Morris...
where the Sycs lost a 10-pt lead late and was outscored 32-14 down the stretch.
Richard is a senior - so he's done anyway -- but this is a very odd way to end your career....(1040 career points & 716 rebounds)
Obviously there are more facts that will never be known....

I agree. After seeing the NIT bracket, I'm planning on following that tournament. 28/32 teams are mid-majors and depending on who makes the NIT Final 4, I might make the drive over to Indy for the semis to watch a couple of games.

I'm all for the leftover power schools having their own little tournament out in Vegas. It clears the way for good mid major schools to make the NIT that actually deserve it.
