I think this could be the next realignment possibly. If Big East does expand I think they try a couple teams from MVC.

Nobody in the current MVC is going BE.

Memphis and Dayton are 1A & 1B for BE expansion and honestly the only 2 real good options at this point. While STL has all the makings of a BE school they have tripped over the feet time and time again for the last 40 years; they might get an invite location not because of merit, they are a DEI hire.

BE needs to examine Butler and DePaul. They are both A10/MVC level; Depaul gets a pass in the BE because of location but Butler is a mid-major through and through.

I'd love to see a Big East with:
Creighton
Villanova
Marquette
St. Johns
UCONN
Seton Hall
Providence
Georgetown
Xavier
Dayton
Memphis

That's about as good of conference as you can get

If the league drops DePaul, why not take Loyola of Chicago. It is a more successful team in the same market.

If the Big East expands then their top targets would likely be VCU, St Louis, and Dayton, probably in that order.

Apparently the Big East as a whole receives $80M/yr in TV revenue for the next 6 years, which means each school is worth roughly $7.27M. So if they were to expand any new addition would have to be worth at least $7.27M or else they would dilute the league's payouts.

The source could be wrong, but I read that the Atlantic 10's media deal as a whole is only worth $6M/yr, so I highly doubt that VCU, SLU, or Dayton are worth anywhere near $7.27M individually.

A league's TV deal value is 80-85% football and 15-20% basketball, so that puts the Big East at a huge disadvantage when it comes to expansion. It's easy to say that they should expand, but financially it might not be worth it to them.

They had their chance on VCU and Dayton. They were both heavily considered when the new Big East formed in 2014, and were voted down by Georgetown and Xavier, respectively, for being too close to their own markets.

Poor Alabama and their fragile egos lol.

The biggest problem I have with the court / field storming is when they do it prematurely. I would definitely be perfectly fine with issuing 15 yard penalties / technicals when that occurs.

I will say that I think it makes a program and fanbase look bad if they are storming the field, and they themselves are ranked or they beat someone outside of the top 10. It makes it look like they've never been there before and that their program is small time, especially if they are a P4 school.

If I recall, Mississippi has a law where a state employee can’t sign a contract longer than 4 years. Or something like that. Ole Miss has struggled to keep coaches in the past because they can never sign them to the mega contracts you see coaches get at other schools.

That’s why every Ole Miss fan is nervous about Kiffin leaving for a Jimbo Fisher-like 10 year contract.
Ole Miss is lucky to have Kiffin. He gets mentioned most of the time when new high profile programs are looking for coaches. Ole Miss has sweeten the pot for him on 2 occasions, as well as extending his contract terms.
I would imagine they will do that for Beard.
