You didn't need TNT/CBS to tell you this today - I already explained it yesterday.

TNT Sports and CBS Sports are delivering the NCAA Tournaments Best Viewership since 1993 Averaging 9.4 million viewers through the second round...

I wonder if any of that is boosted by accessibility via the HBO max app? If you are an AT&T user you have free access to the HBO max app which was showing all games not on CBS. I really want to see what happens to viewership this week with ZERO "little guys" left.

It's a good thought - but I wouldn't over think it... The NBA has been losing viewership for years now even after the introduction of sports betting.
I’m not a sports better by any means. Never have done it. But I’m sure most casual betters just want a “fair” bet without the players, refs, corporate ownership “manipulating” the game. I’m sure it happens at all levels but the chances of a college athlete “throwing” the game is way less than the NBA.

I could be wrong but just betting on the NBA seems slimy as the players never give 100%. Could be looking too much into it but I’m sure there is a subtle psychological reason there

UC Irvine has tied our record set last year for most wins without being an NCAAT team (32). They will have a chance at 33 Thursday against the winner of Loyola Chicago/Chattanooga

I had considered going to the NIT Final 4, but I honestly forgot all about it. Looks like both games were good games just looking at the box scores. Chattanooga vs UC Irvine for the title will probably be a good matchup, but I'm not going to drive all the way to Indy just to watch one game.

serious questions? Where does the money from a “buy game” get allocated? Is it beneficial to play 4-5 games in the non-conference to get paid?

For Basketball it goes back to basketball only. Taking 4-5 road games means less home games.

Football it goes to football+Athletic Budget.

Yeah yeah it's St. Louis. not the point. A buy game vs SEMO is going for $100,000 is the point. it's getting very difficult to justify some of these costs.
Holy cow. I know most on this board can’t stand Thumb, but here’s a good example of why someone will leave ISU for SLU besides the salary. To be an A-10 program and be able to write a check for six figures just to bring SEMO in for a home game in the non-con…..wow.

The thing is, Saint Louis could probably get a home & home with SEMO for free. The schools are less than 2 hours apart and probably should be an annual noncon rivalry, but one schools feels it would be beneath them to go on the road down to Cape Girardeau.

SEMO has the leverage in this situation. So they definitely not playing at SLU for free.
