He probably has no clue about basketball. It seems you have no clue about football. Maybe you can learn from one another and sing kumbaya.
I truthfully don't really start watching much basketball until January when we finally start playing teams in the MVC that I'm familiar with, and the games begin to mean more. The constant travelling and soft foul calls in today's game just starts to irritate me after a while. A couple months of that is enough for me. I enjoy playing the game a lot more than I enjoy watching it.

Drake had a terrible first half against SF Austin. Like 20 turnovers between both teams. Shetlar is the second to the last guy on the bench. Might not mean anything but usually you don’t play in that spot

Northern Iowa loses at home to UC-Irvine by 20

Drake wins at home against SF Austin 66-51

UNI always starts slow. Jacobson’s seat has to be getting a little warm, no?

I’m not sure the struggles of the rest of the Valley give me that much hope… I keep trying to come to terms with this roster and find positive vibes and I’m not finding any.

The league is down, but I am still not confident based on what I’ve seen that State can finish in the top 6

7th or 8th is as high as I think they can go.

Road wins are going to be a premium this year because everyone is so new that I can see most teams struggling away from home. If I knew we were going to get 3 road wins in the Valley this year I would predict is higher than 8th

I'm approaching this year similar to $'s first year especially with a much, much greater turnover disadvantage. If we can somehow compete in the top half of the league, that would be saying something.

It's still early, but I think we're a couple cycles away from having a top half roster based on the talent I've seen, talent we can get in, and aging of the newcomers.

My biggest ? is the 4 spot. I think we have our 1 and 5. We have several candidates that can possibly emerge at 2-3.

I watched a couple of NIT games and I was kind of surprised how much Wolfe contributed. I think Doughty could be that guy this year
and he can do some things Wolfe could not do.

But that 4? What is JD or Gray going to do?

And I have to note that how many true PG's have we had that could go for an easy 20?

And I have to note, plenty!!

Larry could have easily but didn’t need to his last two years as he had plenty of guys around him who could score it.

Odum could and did plenty but again had really good players around him and didn’t need to score to be effective.

Brown was more of a scoring first PG with less pieces around him and really just the style of his play.

Menser could with ease and did… But also had a lot of pieces around him and was a pass first floor general.

B Scott
Jordan Barnes

We’ve had good PGs in the past 25 years

Cummings was also a PG that we turned into a 2 because of JO and would have been capable to drop 20 on any night, too.

I don't consider Brown or Scott or Larry "pure" PG's that could easily get 15-20. Menser was 25 yrs ago. Larry, ok, if he tried with layups and set shots.
I guess matter of definition. I admit I don't know if Teel will be a "true" playmaking PG.
All of those mentioned were good scoring guards.
Odum yes he qualifies. Maybe Barnes.
If you understand what I mean't just nod.

No one does… You move the goalposts. Guard play - specifically PG play hasn’t been an issue around here so your point about having a guard who can drop 20 is irrelevant.

irrelevant? Ok. But you guys cheat. When Scott was a SR, Barnes was the PG. When Brown was a Sr, Clemons was the PG.
Odum in '14 and Barnes in '20 were, I believe the last PG's that were scorers. I may have left someone out.
So you think that if Teel does not score this year that is irrelevant? Interesting take. No wonder you don't see any "positives vibes."
I disagree. I like the fact that someone can score 20 from the PG spot.

Now your putting words in my mouth… Him being able to score 20 points is great - the historical context is irrelevant and you equated it to that in your op as if we’ve unearthed this new skill set for the first time 🤣🤣 It’s irrelevant because we’ve had several PG’s over the years who can go get 20 anytime they want. It’s not even up for debate at this point.

I would agree the word “true” could be debated. I also don’t know that you’ve seen enough from Teel at this point to say he himself would be defined as a “true” PG. I do love how a few you all could watch a guy closely in two games and make that determination - oh you watched some highlights and game film from previous seasons… Not applicable.

If Teel is the only guy on this roster who can go get 20 and consistently be a threat to hit from deep then that’s nothing to have positive vibes about. So far - he’s been about the only one that has impressed me. But it’s very early and I’d be being a hypocrite if I gave up now - always said it would take time with this roster, so I gotta be fair and give it time.

I absolutely agree that it's too early to tell what Teel is going to do. All I know about him right now is that it appears he can score.
I don't know why you are hanging on to the idea that we have had a multitude of PG's that can get 20 "anytime they want." But if that's the way you feel, don't try to convince me because I have seen many years that we did not have ANY players that could do that.
Usually 20 pts is the role that your wings play.
