In the last 3 years we've had Henry, Voss, Bledson, Conwell, Swope, Teel and a few others that produced at a way higher level than LeGree has.

No knock on LeGree. I hope he stays because there is talent there and he needs time to develop. But to make a statement that we can't get a transfer with his ability is just not accurate.
Two came in with the coach and Voss had a connection with the Coach.
Interesting too that Swope and Conwell were IN boys. Wonder if there are any unhappy guards out there from Indiana.
Note: We really got lucky on Teel.

Larry is 6'3 vs. Legree 5'10

Larry was a plus defender from the giddy - Legree is not a defender at all.

Larry had a great motor - it was all about improving his offensive game. Legree wants to look cool - basically the oppo of Larry.
5th on the team in steals and 6th in blocks. Not bad for the minutes he played.

I'd like to add that Menser shot .377 his FR year and was 78/64 A/TO.

I just looked. Legree was 2nd on the team in assists. Wow!
That says a lot about our team. I'm not exactly sure what, but it's definitely not good for no more minutes than Legree played. He should be banned from ever taking a 3-pointer again if he stays, at least until he demonstrates he can make them at a higher rate. I'm not going to buy billboards in his defense or anything, but he has more upside than most of the freshmen. Wouldn't mind him staying. I keep thinking of how Rob Martin never got a chance here, and he's a star now at SEMO. Always interesting to see how things play out, that's for sure.

I think he shot well in HS but his strongest skill is driving with his 40" vertical.
We were overall not a good passing team. If Bruno and Camp stay, I expect them to improve on that. I think Vorst and Alderink are also good passers. I haven't seen Walker enough.
My problem is that I have watched our recruits play some and I don't think any of them are impact players. We need to fill spots well in the portal.
I think Coach can put together a competitive team next year.

No, I wasn’t comparing their specific skills at all. The fact that ‘backer was all in on Larry from the beginning where as most others were very skeptical and certainly couldn’t have imagine final season Ju.

If he cannot develop his shot, he cannot play here. The system is the system and it is predicated on having multiple capable shooters.

For every spot you don't have a shooter, you lose potential efficiency. To have one of your spots that is almost always outside the arc not be able to shoot is a compounding factor to that fact.

If his ass isn't in the gym getting up several thousand 3s a day from now until opening practice whistle, again, he cannot play here. With the season over, it is now on him to determine that.

I hope our players practice layups and floaters and short jumpers too.
You don't have to worry about Legree's ability to shoot. I doubt if he got to where he is today on layups without working hard on them.
I think JD worked on his inside game.

Not sure I agree about our incoming recruits. I think we likely see significant minutes from Enel. That dude has a non stop motor and a massive vertical. He should get points via the Jason Kent role from last year's team. It may take him some time to get comfortable with our offense, but with that type of athleticism and size, he will help right away. I do think Kingston redshirts to build strength, otherwise he likely will struggle to see any meaningful minutes. I have no idea what to expect from Martin Kaupanger. I have seen next to nothing from this high school season. I know he was touted to be real good shooter with plus athleticism.

I’m not sure any team can afford a redshirt anymore. I’d be surprised if Kingston does that.

With the 2 new extra scholarships coming online, it may allow for it. Knowing that most teams don't go past 10 depth wise, you can now continue to operate on 13 as "players" and use those two new spots for redshirt potential. Honestly think they added them because of the HS recruiting and transfer portal blowback.

But yeah, it certainly does not benefit coaches anymore. Will be interesting to see how they navigate this.

Enel is not a starter on his juco team. He scores mostly at the rim. Kaupanger is on a very good HS team and blends in with the team offense. I think he will need a year. Just saying, don't count on major contributions from any of the 3.
I'm just relaying what I have seen. If you have seen different, I hope you are right.

Seems like it will only increase the number of transfers. You will now have to recruit 4-5 "patient" players. Maybe some of them will be interested in the academics and want 5 free years of college.

here are Enel St. Bernard stats: https://www.panolaathletics.com/sports/mbkb/2024-25/bios/st._bernard_enel_4qwh

Looks like he started 27 of 29 games. His stats certainly aren't stellar - especially his 3 pt percentage
You're right. My mistake. I watched a couple of games and I thought he didn't start. It took a while to figure out which one was him and they subbed a lot. I like his stats as far as assists/TO, blocks and shooting %.
He may be more ready than I thought. He doesn't look like a shooter but he can really get up.

As for your track comment - I didn't bring track up in the first place today. If that was supposed to be some sort of a dig - then you got me.
Not mean't to be any kind of dig. Using track athletes as an example of FR adjustment as far as physical and mental. I knew you ran track so you could relate to that. Sorry if came across as rude or a jerk.
