My best guess is we are changing 3-4 guys in the portal. The only thing that makes sense is that Cook and Summers will both be shown the door. The other 1 or 2 who knows. Harding didn’t participate in Senior day but there is something about his game that just doesn’t fit more often than not.

Things to consider…you have to hope many contributors come back….in this offense continuity helps. Wagner passing after the pump fake and drive the last 3-4 games was really good thanks to Gray, JD and Harding making themselves available.
No doubt Odum will be working heavily with the point guards as soon as they get on campus in June. Also Legree reclassified to come here. This would have been his senior year of high school. I wish he and Alderink would have red shirted. If the coaches feel like Legree is coachable, he should be back. I think red shirts are still valuable and should be used in consultation with the player and parents. With Kingston Land being injured most of this year in high school I really hope he elects to red shirt. The other inbound freshman Martin Kaupanger is ranked the 3rd or 4th best HS player in Washington. Not sure if that means anything but even reading some game press from Summer ball, he seemed to always stand out against good competition.

So 3-4 guys plus the 3 open scholarships we have... that's a LOT of newcomers again.

It is. But what matters each year is how much experience comes back in the ones who return, not just the total number.

If seven guys come in, but of the six returnees say four of them are starters or averaging 15+ a game, then you have something to work with.

However if you are bringing in seven new guys and none of the returnees avg more than 5 min a game (like the start of this past year) then you worry.

If certain guys like JD, Vorst, Camp, Bruno come back, then that is a much better place to start from than this past Year.

For sure.

If you can keep the core group and then bring in that many new bodies with some big hits, you're suddenly cooking with fire.

With the scholarships getting expanded. How many scholarship do we have open right now not counting anyone transferring. It it 4?????? 3 new expanded and one current?????

First post shows the chart by class with openings.
I was reading it, Let me rephrase my question. it shows 12 scholarships and two non scholarship walk-on’s used on the first post for next year. I thought next year we will have 16 and the walk-on’s with the expansion of scholarships. Is that the three new spots plus one current is how we are getting to 16 ??

15 scholarships. Do not count walkons. It goes from 13 to 15 next year.

If we used all 15 scholarships and still had both Huttenlocker and Bean as walk-ons, that would make 17. But...

I read something on NCAA.org stating that they reduced the max roster size from 16 to 15 to go along with having 15 scholarships, so to my feeble mind, that sounds like it could be the end of walk-ons in college basketball IF your school decides to use all 15 ships.

I wonder how many FBS programs had 121-man rosters.

If even 40 of them did, that would mean 600 players cut from those rosters and possibly moving to another FBS or to FCS programs.

Not the most talented guys but maybe a lot of them will be positive additions to FCS rosters. Guys who took a run at FBS but never quite fit on the field for one reason or another.

Tons... they used walk-ons for grey shirting a lot of guys. They should make their way down to FCS now. That one positive I see from that but it had to be done since they basically are doing revenue sharing at that level and don't want that added expense versus keeping it.

it was mentioned earlier with the roster increasing scholarships the walk on spots would be going away??? Did I understand that right? So if that is the case there may be two scholarship additional as I would think we could put up higher talent that Bean and the other walk on????
