I think why JD stings more than normal is he is about as productive player a mid-major can have and realistically keep. Good enough to be a stud at this level but still has limitations in his game that will keep him on a P4 bench. He could have been the face of the program for the next 2 years, been a 1000 point scorers for us, and find himself on some all-mvc teams. Instead he will either be a solid playere at a peer institution or on a P4 bench

He had better hope he doesn't go to a spot with a coach that prioritizes defense.

Bingo. Hes good enough to be a role player for us, but not good enough to go higher. Wonder if this is a lateral (money) move.

The logical answer is to get only guys with one year eligibility and make the best team possible. Bypass all the fear of losing them every year and hope for the best. ( only partially kidding here) Got to be lots of good players left every year after the dust settles. As far as Daughtry goes he was an undersized one trick pony who could succeed at times at our level. No outside shot not big enough to defend his position. Good luck to him.

This really sucks. Love JD and his game. Five of us alums make the trip over from INDY to Terre Haute for every home game. We love our alma mater and love basketball, and a few of us contributed to NIL to do what we can to retain good players. But if this is what happens every year, I really have to re think everything. Why support this when it is so corrupt and unfair to almost 300 of the 366 division one schools? Looks like congress is the only entity that can fix this mess. Senator Cruz has openly stated that he thinks that the NCAA is in violation of many anti trust laws and must clean up their act or government will have to fix this billion dollar industry. President Trump's EO banning men from women's sports finally put an end to that insanity. Up until that point the NCAA was complicit and did nothing. I am not sure what role the NCAA plays now other than to schedule tournaments and make sure players are actually enrolled in school.

The downside of not supporting is then we turn into Missouri State. And as much as we all don’t like the landscape I rather support then turn the Hulman Center into a giant morgue.

- It's more likely a corrupt/unfair ratio of 336 to 30; Congress can't tie their own fucking shoes much less "fix college sports" -- they had PLENTY of chances to step in with anti-trust suits and reform it but they chose not to...
~10 transgender women out of 500,000 (per NCAA Pres) weren't breaking the system; an easy cultural flash point for politicos to spend time on...
-there isn't a role for the NCAA at this point

What Sen Cruz and some others are trying to do is get the NCAA an antitrust exemption which would, in fact, bring some law and order back to this Wild Wild West we live in currently. But the NCAA would go back to being the Sheriff. The exemption is a can with almost an infinite amount of worms.

For those of you really wanting a deep dive on all of this here is a 38-page, single space transcript of a debate that captures it all pretty well. It’s from a few weeks ago.

Saw article from Richmond Virginia I believe, not that anyone cares, but Daughtry wants to move closer to home.

Meanwhile Drake with non-scholarship football will run circles around us with their 3rd coach in 3 years.

Regular Season: 9 out of 21 champions had a scholarship football program (43%)

Arch Madness: 6 out of 21 champions had a scholarship football program (29%).

Over the last 20 years, fewer than half of the MVC basketball champions, in both regular season and tournament play, had scholarship football programs.

When you fail to make a business decision you get left behind in more ways than one. We need to do a lot of things but the first most obvious thing we need to do has not changed.

It's an unenvious decision to make, but an obvious one, if we have any desire to remain a D1 athletics institute. I enjoy football, been to countless number of games but we have reached a crossroads in the new landscape. Do we commit to doing what needs done to remain relevant at the D1 level in our flagship sports, (T&F, Basketball and Baseball) or do we want to be left behind and end up in a lower division? It seems we are very close to a new revenue sharing model with athletes and if we continue where we are now, we will not be able to afford that. Lots of unpopular and emotion-flaring decisions need made, but knowing what to do shouldn't be that hard.....pulling the trigger however, might be.

Weak leadership.

It's almost like the common denominator here is if you focus and devote more resources to basketball, there is a likelihood that you have greater success.

Weird.
