Really, really wish I could make the Bourbon and Cigar event... wife may accept the 5 hour round trip for a game, (I never mention the stop at Charlies for the usual shot and a beer and a Tweedy burger), but to say, well Honey i just want o miss a day at work, spend $80 on gas (now @ $4.20 a gallon) to travel to Terredise to drink Bourbon and smoke cigars, would just add a massive Honey-do project to my already too-long list.

Probably a solid life choice… Wish you could make it happen.

I’ve got to hire a personal driver because I have no self-control so I will have some out of pocket expense other than the $200 in tickets I already bought. I will probably not feel 100% on Saturday morning, my kids will probably wake up at 5:00 a.m. but they didn’t choose this life - I helped bring them into this life so they can wake up whenever they want and I will buckle up!

Costs less to hire a driver than to pay court fees, lawyer fees, etc so good call.

I should offer a free shuttle service. The info that would come out after this event would be too notch...and not just about basketball.

If we fill all spots (hope we do) what would your wish list be for the final 4?

After the true PG, I'll take as many guards (combo or shooters) as I can get as the Valley has always been won and lost there IMO. Here is how I'm bucketing the guys and where I think we have absolute need.

POINT: Ian Thomas, NEED
COMBO: EJ McQuillan, NEED
SHOOTER: Martin Kaupanger, Maguire Mitchell, NEED
WING: Joah Chappelle, EJ Hazelett, NEED
POST: Kade Speckman, Jackson Cooper, Kingston Land
CENTER: Alessio Calamita, NEED

I don't disagree. After a PG all I'm thinking about is shooting, length and athleticism. We need shooting desperately and you can't have too much of that or athleticism. We need guys who can run and fill lanes on offense and length that can rotate and close out on defense. I'd be good with not getting another center IF we can add a couple more long athletic wings b/c I think a couple guys listed as Post could slide down if necessary. I admit that would be a major gamble tho. Probably more of a wager than we could afford.

We don't need anything if we get a proven D1 PG. I would only sign a couple of "backups" or if I could improve the team at a position.
Let me be sure I understand. Are you saying that with the roster we currently have, all we need to do is add a proven D1 PG and a couple "backups" (whatever than means) and we're good?? Dangit why don't I have more will power?

Some are only assumed, but I have seen Thomas and EJH several games and Speckman some. I think we have the players now that will play 95% of our minutes. I think any more could be like a Jake Wolfe or Doughty or an Aaron Carter and we would be fine. And I think there a lot of them out there like that. I would like someone like that little guard we had from Vincennes JC a few years back.

I would look hard at bringing the the PG from Holy Cross even though he is only 5'10 or so. I would also look hard at the de-commit freshman from Gary and Hampton from 3-Rivers Juco as a combo. The rest walk-ons, I think this will be a pretty good team. Not sure they need a backup to the big from Germany, options on the roster already exist. The Middle Tenn State big could work.

He's just wrong. Graves is on the precipice of getting fired. He cannot afford to leave anything on the table. The only way to assure you have at least 8-9 guys is to fill all 15 and let them fight it out. Filling 13 means you need to hit on 60%+ of the incoming guys versus filling 15 drops that to the low 50% area. You need the bodies anyway for practice so again, it makes zero sense to not fill it out. Even more so now that power conference schools have seemed to pause their recruiting waiting to see if the NCAA does that stupid 5 for 5 shit.

Considering there are more supply than opportunities, the risk for your final few shouldn't be much more than a scholarship and some commons cash.

Couldn’t agree more.

Yes. I guess you said it better than I did, So you agree that we may only need one more high dollar player.
