So we have the Offensive/Defensive MVP polls, so lets take this in another direction. Who do you think will be the breakout Sycamore in 2011? Why did you pick him?

I am going to kind of skate around the question of who I think will be the breakout Sycamore and who I actually think needs to be that breakout Sycamore. Two totally different questions, I think that the Sycamore really need JP to step up and have a breakout season.

The reason I say he needs to breakout, he has been a non-starter most of his career and started a season low 4 games last year. This makes him a true breakout in the sense that he wasn't part of the starting 5 and he averaged a career low 18 min. per contest. He has shown flashes of being brilliant, my hope is that he can be more consistent with that brilliance this coming season.

JP is what he is and that's a shooter. He's a decent defender but nothing outstanding, he's a decent ball handler, probably an above average passer, not super athletic, not super fast - but he is our best shooter when he's aggressive and looking for his shot. I'd like to see him be a little more selfish this season and I hope he is the one to breakout for the Sycamores - we've been waiting for him to do so.

Want me to make one of these for hoops?

I would say we need a guy like ednut to be great...offensively if we can exploit teams who rolled their coverages just to hilton.

I'm going to go with Lawrence Young. He has the size, and now the experience to anchor the defensive line. He looked good in the spring scrimmages, and he's strong. We need some guys up front to step up and force double teams. I also liked what I saw from Garrison McElroy on the DL. Offensively, I agree, the other WRs need to draw attention. Tanner Riley had a great spring and Egerbongbe, Riston also need to show well.

Someone will definitely need to step up and fill Kent's productivity at wideout or opposing coaches will just shade a safety over to help on Hilton all game long. I hope we have 2 or 3 guys really to step it up -- hell, the whole unit better be ready to go having a BCS level QB ready to sling you the ball.

I know he already stood out last year, but I think Bell will have a breakout year as a starter.

The only questionmark I have for Bell is going to be his durability being so small. If he can hold up all season, he should have nice numbers. I imagine the staff will make sure multiple guys get carries to keep him healthy and fresh.

I'm hoping Luke Harris is 100% as I really want to see what he can do.

I agree...Bell would be my vote. He will have the most immediate possibility for a positive impact due to how much he'll touch the ball. Without a sound running game, it won't matter who we have a QB. Bell will have to help establish the run and be a real threat out of the backfield before the offense will truly prosper.

I think, and hope, Bell will have a breakout year.
