The question is, will she have any role in hiring his replacement?

Sending him on his way is bad enough, allowing her anywhere near the process of hiring his replacement would be even worse.

That's disappointing

Well, you knew if she had a chance to fire him she was going to take it.

Her seat started on fire after the NCAA Regional debacle and she probably expected him to completely and emphatically fall on the sword.

You'd certainly hope not but the Board of Trustees are complicit here AGAIN. Each and every last one of those people need replaced.

Debster: "Hey, I know I drove drunk and took out 11 parked cars on my way back from Chicago. You don't mind if I drive around the block one more time and take out a few more, do you?"

BOT: ** Tosses Debster the keys ** "Knock yourself out, kid."

Can't figure this one out right now. The timing is just bizarre.

1. If he had been canned after the baseball debacle I could understand why... Too many months have passed that has nothing to do with this.

2. Can't really be performance related. He went unconventional and hired Shertz. Baseball, Track, Swimming have all been performing well.

3. So it leads me to believe it would have to be something to do with him legally that implicates the university as a possible reason why.

4. OR probably more likely they didn't see eye to eye on some major decisions that needed to be made... Maybe she wanted him to be the one to announce that football was being terminated or football was going to go D2 or football was going to leave the MVFC and he didn't agree to whatever decision she was wanting him to make. Basically it's you or the program you decide and he wasn't willing to cave.

All that really makes sense to me... Hard to fathom they will let her name his replacement that would be insane. You would want the next President to handle that so the two can be aligned.

If this is a Curtis ‘final act’ move, I will be finding her at alumni/arch madness events and voicing my opinion.

my worry is how this affects Baseball and Basketball. One of the reasons HCJS left LMU was a change in leadership there.

Well... I think it's pretty easy to assume that the first change in leadership her being gone in 6 months he's just fine with. I can't imagine this is something he's very happy about - to your point.

But if I was the new President based on how well he's run the basketball program thus far he'd probably be my first call and I'd ask him how involved he wanted to be in the process and does he have any recommendations. It would give him the opportunity to help build something bigger than just a basketball program and I think that might be something that he would see value in.

So my mind doesn't immediately jump to "worry" - I could see opportunity in this.

we can only hope. Mission 1 should be how to mitigate any more damage she can do to the school.

Quick reminder that on Sept 28, 2022...

"ISU announced Wednesday that Clinkscales received a two-year contract extension that will extend his tenure through June 2025. ISU has an option to extend Clinkscales' contract two years beyond 2025 if it wants to."

Do we actually know (yet) that his leaving is truly the work of our terrible prez Deb?

Semmler now saying the school is only having a press release at 4pm. No questions.

Why wait until 4 if your just going to release some list of talking points that tell everyone nothing?
