Here's what it said...

TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – Indiana State University Director of Athletics Sherard Clinkscales has decided to step down from his role to pursue other opportunities. His departure was effective December 31.

"I will forever be grateful for the many years I served our student athletes, coaches, and community as the Director of Athletics at Indiana State University, and I will miss all the hard-working, talented members of the Athletics Department," Clinkscales said.

President Deborah Curtis thanked Clinkscales for his contributions during his seven and a half years of service. "Indiana State University thanks Sherard for his contributions and advancements to Sycamore Athletics. Under his leadership, he has helped raise the standard among ISU's Athletics programs. We extend our best wishes to him in all his future endeavors."

Clinkscales, who assumed the role of Director of Sycamore Athletics in 2016, previously served as Senior Associate Athletic Director at North Carolina State University, during which time he also served as the Chair of the NCAA Committee on Sportsmanship and Ethical Conduct. Prior to NC State, he worked for the NCAA as the Assistant Director of Championships. In addition to his administrative career, Clinkscales was an assistant baseball coach at the University of Notre Dame. Clinkscales has also served on the prestigious NCAA Division I Nominating Committee, as well as the NCAA Baseball Selection Committee since 2021.

At Indiana State, Clinkscales played a central role in establishing a winning culture in the athletics program, leading to postseason berths and numerous conference championships across various ISU teams. Notably, he secured Terre Haute as the host site for the NCAA Terre Haute Regional for the Indiana State baseball team. He also helped secure a $2 million donation from the Hulman-George family for new video boards at the Hulman Center.

Under Clinkscales' leadership, academics among Sycamore student-athletes were strong, with the department's cumulative GPA consistently rising each year. In 2023, 15 student-athletes earned the MVC Board of Directors Academic Excellence Award (3.8 GPA), 95 received the Commissioner's Academic Excellence Award (3.5 GPA), and 215 received the MVC Honor Roll (3.2 GPA).

Clinkscales has promoted community engagement among student-athletes, including cleanup efforts in Sullivan, Indiana, after a tornado damaged the community, volunteering with Special Olympics Indiana, reading to area students at local elementary schools, participating in the Komen More Than Pink Breast Cancer Walk, and spending time with children at the 14th and Chestnut Community Center.

This is bizarre to say the least!!!! Just PLEASE PLEASE don’t give it to Lansing permanately! Not a good move.

Maybe Clink quit cause we said bad things on here about him over the baseball and he or his parents read it and got their feelings hurt! Sarcasm intended!

Clink didn't resign on his own, this is all on Deb Curtis. I can't believe our Board of trustees would go along with this stuf!!

Huge. Shertz mentioned multiple times the reason he came here is because of Clinkscales and how the AD empowers him.

Cannot believe this was a "resignation" - just doesn't usually work that way. A postdated announcement that he resigned two days prior? Sorry, been in business for way too many years to take this bait.

Posting a press release and then removing it with no explanation is so BUSH LEAGUE!

Meanwhile, local beat writer is posting the 404 link. And Semmler is quoting things that were not in the GoSycamores announcement.

We're big time baby!
